I think that speaks volumes as to why Coakley finds herself in a race so close. Voters don't want to be taken for granted. That's how Truman upset Dewey in '48. Hopefully the last minute GOTV effort by key dems and volunteers will carry her over the finish line.

3. Exactly... everyone wants to create this narrative (whatever
side they are on) and I think it is garbage. This morning I was reading about how Fenway Park hosted two outdoor hockey games the first week of Jan. (NHL and college) and Brown was canvassing personally at both and Coakley did not even show up. At least show up!

4. I'm thinking many will vote against Brown, not for Coakley. That's
a poor showing. Teachable moment for her I'm sure.

6. But, but, but...how can anybody ever claim she is not a good campaigner,
or ran a poor campaign? How?

My city had a mayoral election last year and the incumbent lost in a nonpartisan primary. One of the two top vote getters was a woman in her 50s, a council member with a lot of experience and well qualified to be mayor. She did little campaigning and you saw very few of her yard signs. That's because she figured she had the election in the bag.

Her opponent was a 25 year old serving his first term on the city council with virtually no experience other than running his dad's refuse business. He did have a well known name in the city though. This guy campaigned his ass off and like Obama his yard signs were everywhere.

Well you can guess who surprising won and who was left making excuses.

8. I do get the impression Coakley EXPECTED to win, because she feels
she is owed somehow. She has not been the greatest AG, from what I have been reading, and I hope she makes a decent Senator... I do hope she wins despite herself, and I hope she realizes it.

9. The woman who lost the mayoral race in my town also "expected" to win.
After all, who would vote for a 25 year old kid with next to no experience (in a suit he hardly looks 18).

7. She didn't get an ad of TV till Brown had 2. She opened 2 field offices to Brown's 9. All this is
is from an article in Psych Today entitled: "Martha Coakley, the picture of psychological entitlement"
