Tonight's DU Excuse List for the Massachusetts Election...
1. The Diebold voting machines stole the election (already posted)

2. The "corporate media" refused to do exit polls, allowing the above vote stealing

3. Joe Kennedy was a secret stalking horse for Republicans, designed to confuse voters (already posted)

4. Martha Coakley wasn't liberal ENOUGH

5. The voters are too stupid to vote their real interests

I'm going to go with a different theory:

6. Martha Coakley was a lousy candidate, who didn't put 25 hour days into the job, and expected to win by default because it was "Kennedy's seat".

1. I'm gonna go with #6.
She had a fucking 30 POINT LEAD. And she squandered it because she sucks ass at campaigning.

6. How about:
7) Crappy HCR bill that is a giveaway to insurance companies and a ripoff for voters.

8) Giveaways to the banksters but no FDR style jobs programs for regular folks.

9) No reform or regulation of financial institutions.

25. It's a protest vote because they didn't get the change they wanted in 2008.
Obama needs to go the LEFT not the middle.

27. I don't think so, I think the Left misread the victory last fall
as a mandate for their agenda. The win last year was a vote against GWB, the vast majority of Americans are in the middle. I don't think the far right Republicans are any more out of touch than the far left Democrats with mainstream America.

11. It always blows my mind how quickly and completely
people can change their minds. The same people who elected Teddy so many times have done a 180. My positions don't change every other week. Our voters are basically stupid, vote for things that will hurt them.

17. I don't think it's a matter of "doing a 180"...
Remember, this is the state that elected Mittens statewide. Each election, regardless of who held the job before-hand, is a choice between (generally) two candidates. One campaigned hard and tapped into voter concerns, and one didn't.....

Notwithstanding the teabagger movement, I don't see it.

21. Here is another one the stupid asinine idea that you
could be nice to Republicans and get bi-partisan support on anything. Another one was not being damn sure that Bush got the credit for the mess we inherited. Every single time recession, unemployment, the Wall Street TARP bailout was mentioned it should have been labeled the Bush "Recession", the Bush "TARP" etc.

24. Let's hope MA voters are smarter than #6.
More gridlock and obstructionism is certainly not a rational answer even if the obstructionist works a hundred hours a day for a year trying to get himself elected.

30. Huge Voter Turnout...
and they all came out to vote Brown?

I don't think so. I don't care how bad a candidate Coakley was, the people of Massachusetts are not that stupid. I don't care how bad the Democratic Party has been behaving, no one has forgotten what the Republicans have done to this country.

I'm going with 1 and 2, and I wonder....do we have any reason to believe this wasn't stolen by diebold and the propaganda being fed by the media? Why don't they do exit polls anymore...since they started stealing elections? Exit polls were the canary in the coal mine. Now all we have is....trust. Well elections are not supposed to be about trust.

If Coakley won, the Republicans would have been screaming election fraud...and it would have been the perfect time for us to unite around taking back our voting systems, paper ballots, hand counted and posted at the precinct. But instead, Dems 'lose' and slink away blaming the party thereby paving the way to more election fraud 2010, because it is all our fault. WE can put all kinds of energy into the next election and they will steal it again. It is all part of the plan.

They let Obama win because they wanted someone to blame everything on. Now they plan on taking it all back. And to the people who think we can't see a Palin/Cheney win 2012....Think again. They create the reality now...and we are just supposed to go along with it.
