Well, if Mass goes red, what chance do we here in Ohio have....

That is the question I am pondering as of this moment.

Former Attorney General and two time statewide loser Lee Fisher or sitting Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner are running against former congressman Portman for the Senate.

Not at all optimistic.

Unless the democrats come out and really brand the republicans as borrow and spend irresponsible wing nuts, we are all going to be looking at very sad future.

I honestly don't think the US can withstand another republican government in 2012...

7. It's was going to be really hard before the events of today unfolded....

Fisher is a horrible statewide candidate and is really more DLC than the DLC. Brunner would be the better candidate but Fisher seems to have all the insiders on his side...

Portman is really well liked, respected. He was one of the even keeled guys in the Bush Administration.

I think this momentum generated from today could really dash any hopes of victory in November.

Perhaps I should have prefaced my comments with a little of the detail I now add so that you wouldn't feel the need to resort to anonymous snark.

Forgive me for my lack of tact.

Ohio is not Massachusetts. The problems Martha had might not and should not be duplicated in Ohio. While our Senate race will have echoes elsewhere, they are not definitive as to what will happen.

Work hard and miracles happen. give up and they win.

And McCain/Palin was clearly absurd.

But I am beginning to believe Americans--even many here who call themselves "progressive" but are really either libertarians, or simply union grunts, or gun nuts--have no political sophistication whatsoever. They just react like lab rats to anyone who tells them they will lower their taxes.

10. From what I can tell, Fisher and Brunner are both better candidates than Coakley...

However, Ohio is a right down the middle kind of state and it can teeter either way.

I'm concerned because Mass has always been way more blue than Ohio.

MARTHA COAKLEY RAN AN ABYSMAL CAMPAIGN. SHE CAME OUT OF THE PRIMARIES WITH A 65%-35% LEAD OVER SCOTT BROWN AND BLEW IT BECAUSE SHE WAS ARROGANT, DETACHED, AND ACTED LIKE SHE DESERVED IT.
