Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe, and Joe Lieberman just became the most powerful pols in America
....and thus, the world.

Tonight, the champagne falls mainly in Maine.

1. Or... they just became irrelevant.
Fuck this 60-vote bullshit. Kick Lieberman's backstabbing ass out of the caucus and pass real reform through reconciliation.

4. It's not going to work that way... and you were/are a fool for thinking it would

Harry Reid won't do shit without 60 votes.

That was proven during the stimulus bill voting (when we didn't have 60 votes yet). It was catered to Snowe, Collins, and Specter (before he switched).

Yes... they *CAN* get it through with reconciliation.... but they won't try.

The '10 campaign, from the Dems perspective will be "we tried, but the American people resisted. Next subject."

8. Reid didn't do shit *with* 60 votes.
The 60 votes excuse was always bullshit. We should call them on it and insist that they pass a real reform bill.

5. I don't agree.
I think that Droopy Joe just became irrelevant. We no longer need to kiss his ass to maintain a mythical 60-seat majority.

This may actually be a blessing in disguise.

11. We'll still need to get to 60 for cloture

Will need two of Snowe, Collins, and Lieberman for anything to happen.

12. They weren't already?
Darn.

I was hoping the upside to losing this election would be that we could write off those fools and never have to hear from them again. Grrr.
