Soulless, That's the Only Way I Can Think of to Describe Them
A new print ad -- sponsored by the conservative American Future Fund and running in the print editions of Politico and Roll Call -- is the first direct attempt we've seen by Republicans to directly leverage the Massachusetts special election against House and Senate Democrats contemplating retirement.

The ad, which you can see after the jump, seeks to connect statements made by the White House about the relative quality -- or lack thereof -- of the candidates in the Senate special election as well as gubernatorial races in New Jersey and Virginia 2009 to raise doubts in Members' minds about whether it's worth their while to try to win re-election in a challenging national environment.

"1. Run. 2. Lose. 3. Get Trashed by the White House," reads the ad. "Are you willing to sacrifice your career for Obama?"
