I attended a city Diversity Council meeting this AM. It was said that other countries
take positive actions and work to unite after years of division and strife between races and religions.

I brought up something said here yesterday by a DUer, cryingshame, who hit the nail on the head in one of the threads here. The healthiest way to achieve unity in any situation here in the United States, city, state, or nationally, especially one where corruption has ruined faith in that government, is reconciliation through truth. An old-fashioned Truth and Reconciliation hearing.

Other countries do this - why shouldn't we demand it? Especially after so much loss of life and trust thanks to LIES and divisiveness.

1. It will never happen in my neighborhood.

They really don't want the truth to get out in the streets. They operate much better in the dark. Easier to dupe the public, easier to keep the public off-balance if they don't know who their real enemies are, or who their real allies could be.

At least, I think I now understand why white Americans hate having minority members move into their neighborhoods. It's because minorities don't buy into that quiet contract that seems to exist where good ole boys have taken over.

3. I hear you - for DU's interests I brought it up more for national reconciliation
Party leaders say they overlook serious matters in the interests of the country, or to move on, or to get support for their own agendas....but.....the end result is that there are no acknowledged truths that all sides agree to or recognize, so there will be constant opportunity to distort and revise past events and actions and crimes. And once again, the country becomes easily divided as desired or needed.

4. I think we're moving in the right direction with all the subpoenas
that were issued this week. At least on a national level, we have a better chance to come up with one truth, especially now that we have also exposed the politicizing of the media.

One truth, will help to bring this country together.

9. It really is WAY MORE SIMPLE to achieve than the media and government portray.
SUNLIGHT - does a nation good.

5. And, quite frankly, too many Republicans just can't handle the truth.
That is why we find our country in such dire straits. They just can't turn loose of the fantasies.

6. So, they bought control of most broadcast and print media in the 80s and 90s to create their
own version of truth.

Russert's favorite question to ask from 2001-2004: Do you agree that God chose George W Bush to lead this nation in these times of terror? (said in various ways to a number of figures)

That's the most obscene thing ever said on broadcast TV in my view.

2. Greensboro NC has been the only place
in the US to try it, that I am aware of. I think it is a marvelous idea though.

7. Denver, Colorado could certainly benefit from that.
They have a terrible record of police shooting in questionable, even unwarranted circumstances.

8. Propose one. I would love to see a national one. And when the GOPs scream
well let's open the books on Clinton and Carter, too, I will say BY ALL MEANS open ALL the books - let's air it all OPENLY.

Let's demand we be treated as voting citizens and respected with the truth.
