Josh Marshall is getting SHRILL: "When the next big terrorist attack comes, we can thank Bush"
"After half a decade, the verdict is pretty clear: President Bush has been the biggest ally Osama bin Laden has. He's helped bin Laden at pretty much every turn -- even if only by his own stupidity, incompetence and cowardice. And when the next big terrorist attack comes, we can thank President Bush for helping make it happen."

Josh is usually a pretty staid, moderate voice. So when he gets SHRILL like this, it's a big deal.

1. This is what our
Offensive message needs to be! The GOP talks the talk but fails miserably at walking the walk....Just look at our shipping ports for starters.

13. When will our side try some offense?

We have had so many opportunities, and now Josh is showing the Dems how to do it. He is practically painting a picture for them.

2. I know. It is funny but he has been like this for the past few months.
Low-key, sensible, calm, measured Josh - he is on outrage overload like the rest of us.

I love it.

3. Shrill? He's got it right in my book.
How about "the last big terrorist attack came, and we can thank President Bush for helping make it happen."? That might be shrill. It might be right, too.

5. Sounds as though Josh is letting off steam...
He is, indeed, one of the most even-keeled, level-headed voices the blogosphere has, and his investigative journalistic techniques are without parallel; he should have won a Pulitzer for his efforts on the Duke Cunningham scandal.

I think he is saying this as a "had-it-up-to-here" reaction to Rudy's assinine comments in New Hampshire today. Those remarks really do rank right down there with Joe McCarthy's "All Democrats are communist sympathizers" big lie in the early 1950s. When Repubs can't say anything nice about themselves, they always resort to a time-tested--but certainly not always successful--smear on us; namely, they impune our "partiotism" at every opportunity. As slimy as Rudy can be, I guess many people thought he was above this kind of thing. To which I would respond: "Well, he IS a Repub, isn't he?":eyes:

B-)

6. I don't think Bush's* assistance to Bin Laden was by accident.
I think he* let 9-11 happen. I think he* intentionally allowed OBL to escape.

7. This is EXACTLY the kind of argument we need to be making
Not only is it right, it properly turns their propaganda back on them. We can fear monger based on the FACTS of their failures and miscalculations.

SHRILL though? I don't see it as shrill. Rosie is shrill. Josh is smart and measured. And a rising star we should all enjoy.

8. I did think it "surprising" that Josh would wonder how Bush was helping Osama by not Capturing him..
and was glad he said it. Didn't think it was OTT...but a rational conclusion for those who haven't been out there being called "conspiracy theorists" because we "caught onto the TRUTH" before others did.

 I think Josh and others are just NOW getting it.

Maybe that will free some DU'ers of their :tinfoihat: that they've needed to include in every post because they thought they were SO "OUT OF IT" that no one would listen unless they included that avatar.

17. Clarification: I agree with commenters here that Josh is just stating the truth, not being "shrill"
Edited on Wed Apr-25-07 07:57 PM by StefanX
"Shrill" is a dirty little word right-wingers use in an attempt to shoot anyone down who is speaking out.

I agree that Josh is just stating the facts here, not actually being "shrill".

It is interesting to see Josh express such strong views, because he is usually quite reserved. This is yet another sign of how horribly incompetent and dangerous Bush really is.
