Halliburton asks high court to block rape trial
WASHINGTON – Halliburton Co. is asking the Supreme Court to block a Texas woman's lawsuit alleging she was raped by military contractor co-workers in Iraq.

The company wants the justices to reverse a lower court ruling that Jamie Leigh Jones' case can go to trial. Jones sued Halliburton and its former subsidiary KBR, saying she was raped while working for KBR at Camp Hope, Baghdad, in 2005.

The trial is set to begin in February 2011.

Halliburton says the contract signed by Jones and other workers requires claims to be settled through arbitration, not trial.

6. Good point
and there should be individual persons held accountable, not some amorphous corporation.

11. "Amourphous corporations" are people now.
They're "morphus" now.

And so should be subject to the same punishments as people. Jail terms, corporal punishment, fines, you name it.

And if the court requires a body, an upper executive should suffice.

3. This is just a preview of what corporations will do against
individuals. Make no mistake about it.

7. There needs to be a legal precedent established
to turn this corporate personhood around so that the CEOs and BODs are held fully accountable as individuals for the acts of their corporation.
