Roeder's potentially fatal mistake for any defense he has: Pointing his gun at witnesses
(After the shooting of George Tiller), Hoepner said the assailant, whom he identified in the courtroom as Roeder, left out an east door. Hoepner said he chased Roeder into a grassy area.

“He turned around over his shoulder and said, “I’ve got a gun. I’ll shoot you.’ And I stopped.”

Martin said he was looking out a window in the narthex about 10 a.m., “and I heard a noise that I thought was a firecracker.”

He said he turned toward the sanctuary, “and then I saw George on the floor and then I saw someone running across the grass outside the east door.”

Martin said he ran after the man, whom he also identified in court as Roeder, carrying a cup of coffee. He said took a shorter route to the parking lot and caught up with Roeder as he was climbing into his car, which was backed into a parking stall.

“He was either in or getting in the car…he said, ‘Move,’ ” Martin said of Roeder. “I didn’t move. And he said, ‘Move or I’ll shoot you.’ ”

Operation Rescue and the Army of God want to portray Scott Roeder as some sort of hero, even comparing his murder to someone killing Hitler.

Here's the thing they don't mention though, imagine if this speculative assassin, after killing Hitler, waved his gun around at people.

Yeah, now Roeder sounds like less of a hero and more of just an extremely dangerous murderer, eh?

Anti-Choicers want to gloss this over, they say the aggravated assault charges are not important to talk about. They're as important as the charge of murdering Tiller, and these attacks on witnesses are just more pieces of evidence that militant anti-choicers want to dismantle the rule of law in the United States.

8. I think they should have moved the court out of Kansas.
It's way too red and anti-abortion to convict him. If he is given any time but the low end, I'll be surprised.

11. There was a case in California many years ago....
...People v. Gwaltney. About a CHP officer who patrolled in a deserted area out by Barstow. Tried in San Berdoo Ct twice on murder for strangling a young gal, Robin Bishop, he stopped for allegedly speeding and the usual offer of trading sex for no ticket. Bullet in the back of her head. Hung jury both times in state court murder trial. A friend of mine, George Porter, was Gwaltney's state court defense atty. The courtroom in San Berdoo Central was packed. I got in to watch a few days not because of Porter, but because the courtroom deputy was a friend and I got a VIP seat.

Soooooo...the feddies stepped in after the two hung state juries and they tried him in LA Central District for violation of her civil rights. He died in federal prison.

Hopefully if the state court jury goes sideways, the feds will step in. I do feel, however, that Roeder will get convicted of murder. Even the most nutso fundies hopefully do not believe that violence in a church with killing one person and then assaulting others with deadly force is OK. But one never knows with those assholes....

9. He'll claim it was self defense. That's always their excuse for carrying guns and stuff
and would fit their mindset. Sure the killing wasn't self defense, he was saving the lives of the babies, but then people came after him and he will claim self defense from the baby killer supporters.

12. The claim would be "defense of others."
Soooooo...if that works for Roeder...what about the shooting of anti-choicers nuts like Roeder in defense of abortion doctors to prevent those deaths?
