Podesta: Pass The Senate Bill And Fix It Later

John Podesta, the president and chief executive officer of the Center For American Progress (CAP), offered tacit support today for having the House pass the Senate's health care bill and then later amending it through a reconciliation bill.

Podesta described this as the "consensus" approach.

TPMDC reported yesterday that (CAP), the most influential Democratic think tank in Washington, had been silent on where it stands as House Leadership tries to navigate a path ahead for health care reform. The political calculus had become even more difficult since Republican Scott Brown (R-MA) won the Massachusetts special election to fill the late Ted Kennedy's seat. Brown became the 41st Republican and vowed to help filibuster the legislation.

9. You know, the "fix" our spineless leaders will portray later this year as they move to the middle to

get reelected.

If they don't have the courage to get it done now, these chickenshits won't have courage later on.

Do it right, and do it right NOW.

3. I'm tired of "consensus" with those who keep saying NO to HCR
It's amounting to just going over to their side and making the insurance and pharma corps richer

7. Yes like all those who said "NO" to the Public Option, and "NO" to Medicare buy in, etc?
Edited on Tue Jan-26-10 12:42 PM by PHIMG
Or do you mean people who say "NO" to this bill because they don't want the Democratic Party to become known as the party that forced you to buy a defective, over price product from BIG INSURANCE, and handed TRILLIONS in tax payer funds to one of the richest industries in the country?

Next to address allegation of price fixing in the oil industry we can have the Democrats subsidize Gasoline.

This is an INSANE policy and it will SEVERELY HURT the Democratic party.

4. Yep - that should work to restore confidence of the American voter.
Pass a bill with possible secret additional plans to be added on later (maybe) and depends on how the pork is spread around. That ought to bring all the Dems home and attract the Indies.

NOT.

5. No No No. Do it right, do it right now.
Dems act like battered spouses, believing lies and hoping for a better future while doing nothing to ensure it. Abdicating power.

10. Fix It FIRST....
Pass it later.

That is the WORST rationalization for passing a BAD Bill that I have ever heard.

It is an open admission that this is indeed a BAD BILL.

The Democrats have a very poor record of Going back and fixing bad bills later. (like NEVER).

It WILL be impossible to "fix it later" after the 2010 Blood Bath.
