Nancy Grace's lawyers seek to bar video


OCALA, Fla., Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Lawyers for cable television host Nancy Grace say video cameras should be banned when she is deposed in Atlanta in the case of a mother who killed herself.

Grace is to be questioned Thursday in a lawsuit brought against her by the estate of Melinda Duckett, of Leesburg, Fla., who shot herself Sept. 8, 2006 shortly before her interview with Grace was to be aired on CNN's Headline News.

Duckett was questioned by Grace in the disappearance of Duckett's missing 2-year-old son, Trenton. Police said Duckett was a suspect in the August 2006 disappearance of the boy, who never was found.

Duckett's estate alleged Grace intentionally inflicted emotional distress on Duckett.

I can't stand the sight or the sound of her.

I know she suffered a tragedy when her fiance was killed. But that is no reason to be so blind to justice. Standing trial doesn't make you guilty. Even being found guilty doesn't necessarily make you guilty, as the Innocence Project has shown.

...she is the embodiment, IMO, of all that is wrong with prosecutors. I hope to hell she finally pays for some of the damage she has done. Anyone else recall the Ricci case?

This should be good.

I'm not sure there will be a compelling reason not to allow the plaintiff's attorney to tape Nancy answering a bunch of questions without getting the chance to shout down her interrogator. Plaintiff's attorney should have no problem signing a protective order, but videotaping depositions is such a standard practice, that it would be a rare judge who would excuse Ms. Grace from it, even if she might be annoyed or embarrassed by it.

...it used to not be done that often, but in the last few years, it seems like SOP. Nancy is no one other than a defendant in a wrongful death case ~~ she is not any big deal in that position. As just another litigant, she needs to do what everyone else does and she needs to stop whining about it.

and I couldn't believe how she was accusing this woman of being a really horrible mother at best, and at worst, a mother who killed her child.

Nancy grace has no shame, yet she sure dishes it out.

Me, neither.

I can't imagine how Nancy Grace could get a conviction if the defendant had any attorney. She looks and acts like someone who could and would kill on impulse.
