Tell me who will be affected by these areas reportedly subject to possible budget cuts
The key sentence:

"Among the areas that may be potentially subject to cuts: the departments of Housing and Urban Development, Justice, Energy, Transportation, Agriculture, and Health and Human Services"

2. It makes my future look rather grim
Looking for a teaching position as local and state education budgets are being cut. Now with these upcoming federal budget freezes, education is going to take a huge hit.

These cuts are a direct threat to my life and livelihood.

5. I've heard reports both ways,
Hopefully yours is the correct one. But the way Obama and Duncan are trying to privatize the education system, well, it certainly doesn't look good.

Good luck on your search.:hi:

6. I've got a position,
but my district is having financial problems. They've already cut a lot of fat from the top, which is the way to go. But after that, if they still are in financial trouble, teachers may be in jeopardy.

4. We all KNOW who will be hurt, but there are possibilities even within those Departments.
Housing and Urban Development - cut the tax write-offs for developers and corporations that are involved, but mandate their continued participation in existing programs.

Justice - let all drug offenders out of prison and stop the insane War on Drugs. Cut the budgets for offices going after "the little guy" and put most of that money toward corporate fraud.

Energy - cut the subsidies for fossil fuels to bring our costs in line with the rest of the world while at the same time switch funding toward renewable energy.

Transportation - cut highway subsidies, especially wasteful "bridge to nowhere" pork and put more money toward public transportation.

Agriculture - refocus agriculture expenditures away from corporate agriculture conglomerates and toward assisting family-owned farms. an emphasis on crops instead of meat production would greatly improve our ability to produce FOOD.

Health and Human Services - does it actually need to be said? Universal Medical Care administered by a single-payer entity as a NON-PROFIT endeavor.

7. Also the Department of Education - they're on the list

quite a few times.

Last night someone posted a link to the pdf file listing the potential 'terminations and reductions' - I stupidly did not bookmark the link. I'll see if I can find it; it's an interesting read. My personal favorite are two military projects that are listed under 'termination' but are actually getting more money (potentially) - that's followed by the termination of the C-17 project, which will apparently cost $6 million to 'shut down operations'. Hell of a cost to flick off a light switch.

On edit: Found it.
