Blanche Lincoln will OPPOSE reconciliation on health care

Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) will oppose Dem efforts to move health care legislation through Congress using budget reconciliation, hurting Dems' chances for using the controversial parliamentary maneuver to pass a reform bill.

"I am opposed to and will fight against any attempts to push through changes to the Senate health insurance reform legislation by using budget reconciliation tactics that would allow the Senate to pass a package of changes to our original bill with 51 votes," Lincoln said in a statement on Tuesday. "I have successfully fought for transparency throughout Senate deliberations on health care, and I will continue to do so."

"I will not accept any last-minute efforts to force changes to health insurance reform issues through budget reconciliation, and neither will Arkansans. We have worked too long and too hard on this reform effort - we need to get it right," she said.

Budget reconciliation is a parliamentary maneuver that would allow the Senate to pass health care reform legislation with just 51 votes, instead of the 60 needed to cut off a filibuster.

The way I see it: The two Southern belles (Lincoln and Landrieu), the guy who looks like the father on the Wonder Years (Ben Nelson), LIEberman, Sheets Byrd (who cares more about Senate rules than doing what is best for the country), and possibly the other Nelson from Florida. That still leaves us with 3 votes to spare.

She's scared shirtless of losing her Senate seat. Gotta pose some more. Trouble is, she's been on both sides of the fence for so long, she's not sure where her ass is.

The only Arkansans she speaks for are the ones who own Walmart.

That's Lincoln, Bayh, Landrieu, Ben Nelson and Lieberman.

That still leaves us 54 votes. As long as we can get 51, or 50+Biden, those five can suck it!

It was all over the TV at the end of Countdown last night.

According to Markos Moulitsas, the seat is lost to the Dems if she decides to stay in the race.

She's dead meat either way (which is good) but if she gets her worthless ass out now, we have a chance of retaining that seat.

She'll be gone next year whether she likes it or not. And with her and Bayh saying no, that only leaves us with 57 votes, instead of 51.
