NEW ORLEANS - A conservative filmmaker whose undercover videos shone a spotlight on alleged corruption by the liberal activist group ACORN was arrested with three other men and accused of plotting to wiretap the New Orleans offices of Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La. . . .

The fourth man was identified as Stan Dai. All four were charged with entering federal property under false pretenses with the intent of committing a felony. . . .

1. Seems like.
Stan Dai
Dai appears to be a long-time conservative rabblerouser: A Stan Dai was the head of George Washington University's Conservative Student Union, and a GWU student by the same name was quoted in 2004 in support of some pro-life student activists engaging in political theater at a John Kerry campaign event. And a then-17-year-old named Stan Dai in Naperville, Ill., told a USA Today reporter covering a student anti-war protest in 2003: "The people who organize the anti-war movement annoy me." This picture is from the Facebook page of a Stan Dai who attended GWU and is friends with Joseph Basel, one of the other plumbers busted yesterday. UPDATE: Lindsay Beyerstein finds two delightful datapoints about Dai: He was the recipient of a scholarship from the conservative Phillips Foundation, which also awards the Robert Novak Journalism Fellowship (he'd approve!), and he is an assistant director at Trinity University's Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence, which trains people how to be spies.

6. Could be
That bio says Dai is a member of Viguerie's YAF - of which both O'Keefe and his female cohort, Hannah Giles, are members.

10. Off topic, but the "College Leaders" on that Phillips Foundation site
are really scary looking, for the most part. So many of them remind me of the same kind of uptight conservative creeps who already seemed middle-aged in high school and college.

And in the MSNBC piece, don't you love how the lawyer for Flanagan called this "poor judgment" and said "I don't think there was any intent or motive to commit a crime." I also noticed on the Faux News site that O'Keefe's lawyer said he "at heart, is a really good kid."

Keep an eye out for the attempts to spin these criminals, who knew exactly what they were doing, as some kind of childish, innocent, fun-loving pranksters.
