Today I voted for taxing the wealthy and large corporations
Here in Oregon we had a special election on measures 66 & 67 which if approved by voters will increase the tax people making over $250,000 and large corporations will pay. Mr Z is dropping off our ballots on his way to work. Damn, it felt good to mark "yes" in those boxes. :headbang:

Here's to hoping they pass, and that this will be duplicated federally. :toast:

1. Good luck. What's the outlook?
What are the initiatives' chances?

5. They also started counting early
and even announced preliminary results last week. Weird. :(

Both initiatives were leading slightly in the early count, but announcing that strikes me as odd. It's like saying to the opposition, "Work harder!" Poll results are one thing, but vote counts?! There's a reason news outlets don't say the poll results on election day. As you know, here in Oregon, we have an election fortnight-or-so, since we're vote-by-mail.

The upside is they should be done counting earlier tonight than usual.

4. Turned in my ballot by return mail
The phone has been blissfully silent from any phone banking folks. Now, once these furshlugginer commercials are done with, I'll be happy. That one with the donut shop owner dismissing her two employees is just way too precious. As if someone's taxes going up $140 would mean two employees have to hit the bricks. How much are you paying these people? I'm also way past tired of the steady stream of letters to the editor that claim this is a "sales tax" and will put all these small businesses out of business. They all seem to hit the exact same talking points in exactly the same way, almost like they've been automatically generated. But we know that can't be true!

6. One former small business owner told me the spin is ludicrous.
She said their decision to hire or not was based on one thing: whether people are buying your products. Taxes have NOTHING to do with it.

Here's hoping she's not alone, and that groups with ridiculous names like "Oregonians Against Job-killing Taxes" will be shown for the hollow charlatans they are.

10. If you look down here ...
to California you will see a faint green glow. That will be me, green with envy. I know by now that the measures passed, and I would so love to see something like that here.

Congratulations and thank you for speaking out with your vote for me and many others who don't have a choice yet.:yourock:
