I don't think he plans on leaving office.

2. Yeah, me too. I have felt for some time, now, that he just won't go.
It is probably just hold over dread that he can still do so much harm. He just strikes me as being so unstable as to be unpredictably dangerous.

3. I gotta have some hope that the military and police will not go along
It would mean a complete repudiation of the Constitution and the end of any pretence of Democracy. And I can't believe that they could pull it off with less than 1/3 of the country (at most) still supporting them. I think they might have tried to amend the constitution if they still controlled Congress, but not now.

Gonna be an interesting transition, however, especially if a Dem wins on 08.

4. "If a Dem wins in 08." You know, that may be a bigger "if" than any of us
think or can deal with. There seems to be this sense of inevitability to a Dem win in '08 - and, I admit, that it is hard to see how a Repub could win, but as Bush said in '01, he couldn't believe he had won the election running against "peace, prosperity, and incumbency" - yet he became President. This may be how the Repubs retain the office - not by W. actually keeping it, himself, but by the stealing of the office, yet one more time...

5. Yep. I was having this same conversation last week
And my Co-worker said "There is no way a Dem will win in 08. The Corporations will allow us to indulge ourselves for a while, but just watch, when the primaries begin everything will fall into place. Remember 2000, where Bradley and McCain were winning early, then it was like a light switch was thrown and we had Gore and W locked in". Whatever epiphanies Gore has had since 2000, the fact remains that he was a true DLC'er back then. Of course W was their first choice and see what happened.

11. This won't comfort you: Adolf Hitler never had the support of much
more than 30% of the voters in his country.
