I was neither self-employed nor did any contract work last year. Why did I get a 1040v packet?

I got coupons to pay estimated tax for 2010. Anyone else get this?

2. No. Back in 2007 I did 1099 work for one quarter so I just added it to my income for that year.
This is really odd. I've been unemployed since Sep. and only worked for 5 months last year, but it was W-2.

3. Do you have to pay self-employment tax?
Maybe that triggered it.

4. No, I've never been self-employed.
I've done contract work a time or two but it was a while back.

6. IRS. I will contact them. Not worried about it but I thought it was weird.
I'd hate to think they're sending a bunch of these out to people who have no use for them. That would definitely be an example of wasteful spending. :P

8. They usually send out that packet to people who have owed money in the past...
Don't worry about it, you aren't on any kind of list...

I have been doing taxes for 25 years and I have clients who owe every year and don't get the package and those who never owe get the package.
