'Dumb Stunt' meme taking form for what O'Keefe did at Landrieu's office

http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2010/01/dumb_stunt_gains_as_term_for_w.html

The judicial system will ultimately decide how serious it all was, of course. But the meme of the day today about the arrest of ACORN nemesis Jame O'Keefe and three others for allegedly trying to interfere with the phones at a New Orleans office of Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu seems to be that it was all a prank aimed at embarrassing the senator and her staff -- not an attempt to actually mess with the phones.

NBC News' Pete Williams is getting some buzz for his report that "a law enforcement official says the four men arrested ... were not trying to intercept or wiretap the calls."

Instead, the official tells Williams:

O'Keefe and the others had heard reports that people in Louisiana hadn't been able to get their calls to Landrieu's office answered recently during the health care debate in the Senate. So, Williams writes, they may have wanted to see "how the local staffers would react if the phones went out. Would the staff just laugh it off, or would they express great concern that local folks couldn't get through?"

The opinion page of the local Times-Picayune this morning picks up on the "stunt" thread.

"For everyone out there who sees echoes of Watergate in four conservative activists' attempt to tamper with Democratic U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu's New Orleans office phones, it's time to take a deep breath," writes columnist Stephanie Grace. "Unless we learn otherwise, this could really be just a dumb criminal story mashed up with a dumb political stunt story -- one that's being propelled by a healthy amount of liberal Schadenfreude."

O'Keefe himself, by the way, has tweeted that the Williams report means a "Govt official concedes no attempt to wiretap."

1. What the hell business does the law enforcement official have drawing a conclusion like that, and
leaking it to the press when the investigation and trial are not complete?

6. Much of LE, particularly in the South, remains loyal to Bushies and NOT America
Face it. Look at the Freeper Mass Murderer who shot up the Unitarian Church full of Linerals in Knoxville, TN.

His letter, which should have been a topic of great national debate since his suicide note was something that (except for the exhortations to murder) was shared in belief (and still is) by millions of Freepers, Dittoheads, Hannidiots, Savage Weiners, and the rest of the American Brownshirts.

Instead, it was 100% fully suppressed UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE OF THE LAST DAY OF THE SENTENCING!

We live in a society which, time and again, has shown us that in big mass-murder cases that hit the media, we get access to everything about everything within days, if not hours.

LE (Law Enforcement) "leakers" usually trip all over themselves to release the details of the case to the media, especially in high-profile cases.

And yet, in this...utter silence. It's creepy and totalitarian, the way that works. How many people, LEs, judges, attorneys, etc., had to conspire to achieve this blackout. It boggles the mind.

But it works like that, time and again, to the degree and frequency when it no longer even really matters HOW it works, just that it does.

The Bushies needed the Knoxville murderer's suicide note to be suppressed so it wouldn't receive wide play in the media (nor lead to any uncomfortable questions about why this murdrerous screed was written in terms that no less than 30 million Americans fully agree with - except the murdering liberals randomly parts and probably at least half of them do, if they only thought that like the Nazis, the government wouldn't prosecute them)...so it was suppressed until the last minute of the last day of not just the trial but the sentencing hearing.

As the years roll, by LE becmes further and further like a kinder and gentler version of the double-standarded Nazi or Soviet LE in the service of the Bushies.

Thus, one should expect sympathetic Bushie LEs to throw sand in the gears of this investigation, and help with the constructions of the latest Bushie Big Lie.

In the end, just as with the 2002 NH phone jamming schemes, these criminals will go free because they are Bushies.

There is no justice in Totalitarian Nations like our American Empire.

2. So, let them make that defense in court...
A dumb stunt that involves committing a felony is still a felony. If that's the only defense they have, let them make it.

8. When daddy is a federal attorney and the defendants are white
nothing will happen. In Georgia there were 40 white high school kids ripping off a Wal-mart and none whet to jail and they all got their little scholarships and went to college. But it you are black you are screwed. This guy will walk and be a bigger hero.

10. If this had been a "liberal"
who attempted to access the phone lines of a sitting GOP US Senator during a time of war they would hang him for treason.
