Blair just said the MOST important thing about Abu Ghraib was....
"It hurt our cause" (you know, spreading democracy)

...and that the "cause" shouldn't be judged by the actions of a "few" (bad apples)...as if torture wasn't implemented by the US government

as if members of the UK government didn't know widespread torture was taking place...as if UK intelligence wasn't involved.

4. As if torture wasn't a despicable business that is ongoing.
And as long as there are people here and in Britain who defend it, and their governments refuse to put an end to it and excuse it, and hold accountable those responsible for it, they are no better than the terrorists and the dictators they point fingers at.

I'm sure Blair will suffer no consequences for his war crimes. But he will go down in history as a man who followed the US president into an illegal war that killed over one million people.

5. Have you been watching his testimony? He skipped slick and went straight to slimy.
He was very dismissive of the torture itself.

10. I haven't seen much of his testimony today. Started watching
last night ~ I know how good he is at deflecting criticism and arguing down those who disagree with him. I am not surprised that he would try to make light of torture. He probably knew about it all along.

History will be the judge of these war criminals because I doubt they will be held accountable in this life-time, sadly.

9. Now, now. Let's not judge his good faith intentions by a few..er...mistakes
Seriously...that's almost Blair's entire defense.

Well, that and 911 changed everything...he actually said that...911 changed everything...and that he acted in "good faith"

On Amy's show today, a dad describes surviving the Nisoor Square massacre. His nine year old son didn't survive. Scahill did the report.

I hate this bastard.

Probably doesn't have quite the same impact in the UK, but that's what I thought of immediately.
