his new strategy will work. If it works there should be no reason to keep troops there longer than October and that is later than the date they gave for demonstrative progress to show. I would say a veto would be quite the contradiction to his own words....just saying........

1. I'm beginning to think that this could work in our favor
HE's the one who's *not supporting the troops* by vetoing the bill that would provide for their funding. He doesn't want adult supervision -- he wants a blank check. After he vetoes this bill, we can forever say that HE's the one NOT FUNDING THE TROOPS.

2. well if he veto's
the troops will not get the money. If that happens they will have to come home. Bush can take as hard of a line as he wants but it is he who is putting the troops at risk.

4. Yes! I was thinking the same this morning
And take it even further. Say things quiet down; how does anyone ensure the violence won't start again the moment we make plans to leave?

Using Bush** logic, NEVER is when we can safely extract our troops.

5. What needs to be stated is this...
all these spending bills, the troops don't see a dime. the corps providing the services get the money. As far as weapons, etc, that money goes to the pentagon.

The troops on the ground see very little if anything as far as money.

Also, the pentagon said that they have money until June.

Also, if you really want to read between the lines. moron* cuts the funds to the VA and soldier benefits yet wants to keep funding this bullshit war. Why? just follow the money.

Like I said, it ain't going to the troops.

6. What do you mean he has NO CONFIDENCE IN HIS SURGE???!!!
he has sooooo much confidence in it that he's extended the 2-3 month surge to 7-8 month surge, and is keeping his options open to extend it even longer

7.  I tned to feel that this funding is for the Iran war .
We know there is enough funding for a few months for Iraq and bush has been lying about the funds running out .

Even though many don't feel Iran is still in the plans and even the house and senate are focused on Iraq while in the back ground cheney is drumming to attack Iran .

I do know there are mnay here who will not agree but the carriers are still there and last we heard others were on their way and are probably there by now .

Call me nuts but these freaks are always working in the darkness and are not about to give up their plans because of elections or politics , this is the least of their concerns .

8. And when he signs it, what will that say?
I'm convinced that this whole thing has been a setup to make him come out as the big compromiser and the guy who really supports the troops.

I really doubt he's going to veto this.
