The Perfect Democratic Response to Bush's Veto
"We are sorry that the President has decided to not fund our beloved troops in Iraq. Unfortunately, there will be no new bills forthcoming that will be to President Bush's liking. If the President doesn't proceed to agree to his very own benchmarks, as outlined in the bill he vetoed, then, according to generally accepted estimates, the war in Iraq ends July, 2007. It's the President's decision. He is The Decider after all."

Are they out of their minds?
Stand firm dems. the world is with you. the American people, the Iraqi people, and the rest of the world! If there is no money tell him to go find the 12 billion missing dollars! yes that is billion with a b.

3. Exactly, the thing being lost in the clamor is the open-ended benchmarks
Benchmarks Bush** himself acknowledged in his January address to the nation about the surge:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/01/20070110-7.html

He sets these benchmarks with the Iraqi gov't, but when do they have to be met? He only mentions: "To establish its authority, the Iraqi government plans to take responsibility for security in all of Iraq's provinces by November." That's it. The vagueness was intentional.

All the Dems are doing is holding him to it, saying "You can't just announce there are benchmarks and then not follow through with deadlines for them to be met. So here are the deadlines."

The Dems are fools if they let Bush** twist off the hook on this.
