had a minor argument with a co-worker
Edited on Thu Apr-26-07 04:50 PM by LSK
He hates the war, is fed up with all the bullshit like most of us are.

The problem is he blames Democrats and Republicans equally and doesnt trust either one of them.

He claims Kucinich is pushing impeachment because hes running for President.

How do you get through to people like that?

:banghead:

2. This is not a serious person
sounds like someone who bases his opinion on the last television news segment he watched; how else could he blame the two parties equally for the war? It can be exhausting and unrewarding to try and reason with someone like that.

3. My sister's like that...
Blames both parties. When I try to bring up something the GOPers are doing, she responds with "The Democrats are just as bad!" Or, "I don't trust either one of them!" Or (my "favorite") "I got too many more-important things to worry about!" (job, car, husband, son, home, etc)

She drives me...well,

4. I know several people who feel that way
And I can see their point of view. Unless you are keeping close watch on things, it really could appear that the Dems aren't doing enough... sometimes I feel that way myself.

As far as trust goes, you have to trust someone. Judging by the loooooooong list of Republican arrests/hearings/trials... well, it tips the scales a tad.

6. You can't, they go off on these rants about republicans and democrats being equally corrupt or
equally at fault for all the wrongs with the country. But come election time they will still vote for republicans because the democratic party is to full of bleeding heart liberals that want to turn the country into a commie state of China (a new rant by one such person, he ignores that red China is friends with pukes and blames democrats for trade agreements made under shrub ) After all actually caring about thy neighbor and his lively hood goes against their greed and self centered goal of allowing no one to have a chance at having a life as good as theirs.

7. Probably can't be done directly.
Something tells me you still made an impression.

Keep throwing crumbs of wisdom his way.

Most people are afraid to think for themselves.

But sometimes . . . it happens anyway. ;)

8. That's how republicans are.
Instead of admitting fault, they fault both parties equally. I guess we should have done that when WJC lied about sex. :eyes:

9. It's true, Dems steal millions, but Pubbies steal BILLIONS.
And, if you think a dollar is the same as a thousand, then stand up for your beliefs. Here's a dollar, now give me a thousand!

10. Well I do think Dems can do more
They really ought to focus on getting rid of the Republican party entirely instead of considering them integral to our government. They see third parties as more of a threat than Republicans I think.

11. Tha'ts painful. I have thought of keeping track of all of the articles on global warming
and referring to them in this case. You know, get right wingers heads wrapped around something that could quickly and personally affect them and their children. Talk to them about the disappearing bees and damaged food supplies and acidic oceans and ronald reagan. Yeah, Ronald Reagan who, upon arriving at the WH, ripped out the solar panels Carter put on the roof. He then eviscerated the alternative energy department Carter had set up.

Tell them that if Lee Iaccoca, had listened to Al Gore in the 1980s instead of thinking he was a "nut" and a "flash in the pan>" (See NPR April 26, 2007 Morning Edition) perhaps we would have more hybrids on the road and Iaccoca wouldn't have to resort to writing a book entitled:
Where have All the Leaders Gone?" Because clearly Al Gore was a leader in the 80's and no one listened.

That usually shuts them up.

Clearly the Dems lead in this area. How could anyone trust a republican in the area of global warming?

12. Does he read DU?
Almost every day I read on DU that the only reason we are at war in Iraq is because Hillary voted for it.

13. Ask him how Democrats could be blamed
when they were fed misinformation by bush.

How Democrats could be blamed when they were in the minority.

How Democrats could be blamed when not all Democrats like Lieberman and others are only DINO's.

Ask him if he knows how Congress can override a Presidential veto.

Ask him if he knows how many votes are needed in each chamber to override a veto.

Ask him if he knows how many are Democrats in the House and in the Senate.

Ask him if he knows how many there were in the last Congressional Session.

FINALLY, ask him the last time he voted and the last time he made a call to his Representative and his Senators.
