Palin, Emanuel. Pot, Kettle

Did she really just call for Rahm Emanuel to be fired because he allegedly used the term "fucking retarded" to refer to fellow Democrats in a private meeting? Last summer? Did she really?

I don't like the term myself. I think it is offensive. I think Rahm Emanuel is offensive. But at least he's real. And he has now apologized. And at least he used the term metaphorically.

Palin, in contrast, called her own campaign prop "her retarded baby" in private, according to an eye-witness account from the father of her own grandson who lived in her house for months and knew her intimately. "I was just in shock the first time I heard it," Levi Johnston told CBS. Unlike Sarah Palin, Johnston has not been caught in multiple indisputable lies. I believe him over her. In fact, in any factual dispute, I believe anyone over her.

While I'm at it, does anyone actually believe that Palin's name for the child of miraculous provenance was found by her deep knowledge of ancient Norse as she claims in her magical-realism novel, "Going Rogue"? I mean, seriously. She knows about as much ancient Norse as she does English grammar. It's as credible as the idea that she gave a speech while having contractions, several hours after going into labor, as she claims in her novel. It's as credible as her amazing journey in labor with a special needs child on a plane where the flight attendants, according to the Anchorage Daily News, did not even notice she was pregnant. It's as credible as any number of indisputable self-serving, unbalanced lies that she has told in the public record for years.

The medical term for Down Syndrome is Trisomy-21 or Trisomy-g. It is often shortened in medical slang to Tri-g.

Is it not perfectly possible that the very name given to this poor child, being reared by Bristol, is another form of mockery of his condition, along with the "retarded baby" tag? And does the way in which this poor child was hauled around the country on a book tour, being dragged out in front of flash photographs in the middle of the night, barely clothed, suggest someone who actually cares for children with special needs, or rather sees them as a way to keep the spotlight on her?

C'mon, Levi. Write that book. Expose this fraud.

2. I'm sorry I have a hard time believing anything that Levi Johnston says
He could tell me that the sky is blue and I would still feel the need to look. I would have a hard time believing any parent could refer to their child in such a manner, and until their is more evidence I will have to give Palin the benefit of the doubt. Levi isn't exactly a person of high morale standing. Having said all that I believe that Rahm should not be fired.

4. I don't have such a high regard of Levi either, but I feel the same
way about Palin, especially when seeing her on the campaign trail using that baby, then handing him off.

And I agree with you about Rahm.

7. I still think she is an opportunist to the ninth degree

The first time I laid eyes on her I knew she got into politics for one reason, to help herself. She largely has succeeded in helping herself. She turned a nothing job as mayor of a small Alaska town, into the cusp of being the 2nd most powerful person in this country. No matter what you think of her, and I think very little of her, that is no small accomplishment. I do think Sarah would do just about anything to become more powerful or at least remain a symbol of importance. I just hope that she would never actually stoop so low as to refer to her own child in such a way. If she did actually refer to her child in that manner, then if there is a God, may he strike her down where she stands. There is nothing worse a person can do then mock and/or humiliate their own child.

3. Jesus Christ-- that is sickening.
He's got a point about the origins of Trig's name. I wouldn't be surprised at all if that was the real inspiration. It's just the sort of cruel joke I'd expect from this degraded Xerox copy of GW Bush.

5. I HOPE LIKE HELL she does have a deep knowledge of ancient Norse
because the idea that any mother would name her baby after Trisomy-g is cruel and sad. While I seriously can't stand anything about her, I honestly hope this is not true. Trig deserves for this not to be true.

6. If you recall, Levi already gave an interview.

Johnston: Palin Would Ask, ‘Where Is My Retarded Baby?’

The CBS Early Show has been touting their interview with Levi Johnston, the thorn in Sarah Palin's side, this morning as his first big tell-all since his self-penned Vanity Fair article last month. But as far as we can tell, he's pretty much been running his mouth off all fall — largely about waving his wang around for Playgirl, but also about Palin and her family. The latter, and his relationship with his son that lives with them, was the big subject of his CBS interview. "If going to go out there and say things to me, about me, I'm going to leak some things on her. I mean that's just how it is," he told Maggie Rodriguez. He even hinted that he knew of some illegal things she'd done that he'll stop short of airing. "If I really wanted to hurt her, I could, very easily. But I'm not gonna do it. I'm not going that far." Aw, that's sweet. Except that Johnston didn't stop short of undermining Palin's self-appointed post as spokeswoman for mothers of disabled children. She'd come home from work looking for her son Trig, he said, and she'd ask, "Where's my retarded baby?" She would apparently use the term regularly to refer to the child, who has Down syndrome. "She'd say it kind of regularly. I think she was joking, but that doesn't make it right."

And yeah, I trust Levi more than I trust her. She is just a fraud. She lies all the time.

Levi is a kid that is doing what he can to take care of his sister and his mother and his son. I dare Sarah to complain about his photo shoot again after she gives such glowing comments about Cosmo Brown.

10. God, that poor child. He's catching it from all sides.
I wish there were natural, empathic cautions against making a baby who will see all of this one day and possibly be at least hurt by it (he has Down's Syndrome; he's not a robot). I know she started it, but this ain't good.
