Swiss court OKs return of US$4.6M to Duvalier family, rejects handover to Haiti aid groups
'Swiss court OKs return of US$4.6M to Duvalier family, rejects handover to Haiti aid groups Wednesday

LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) - Switzerland's highest court says the family of former Haitian dictator Jean-Claude "Baby Doc" Duvalier can reclaim at least $4.6 million in Swiss bank accounts.
The Federal Supreme Court reversed a lower court's ruling that the money should have gone to aid groups working in the impoverished nation, in a decision reached hours before Haiti's devastating Jan. 12 earthquake in Haiti but only published Wednesday.
Such delays are common in Switzerland's legal system.'

2. NPR reported the Swiss court considered too much time to have elapsed...
to warrant consideration. In the same breath behind it mentioning the case has been going on for 25 years. They did say it does take a long time for the Swiss courts to hear cases...but I mean come on. That, for the wrong plaintiff, can have the effect of a siege engine = just a matter of time before statutes run out, or people just get tired and go away which works for courts protecting secret bank accounts, investments and sovereign-funding

For all the condescension, lapse & detachment - you may as well stuff your grievances into a bottle and send them toward a judge sitting on a rolling schooner somewhere off the Pacific Coast and *hope* for the kind of change it will take to lilt closer & closer to remedy
