I have to confess
I love my Toyota - We've never owned a car that wasn't a Toyota. What's more we've never had a problem. This is one hell of a mess for my favorite car.

Now I can't say I'm sorry for them because they were always anti-union.

1. In the Port of Long Beach, CA, where the cars come off the ships from Japan...
Longshoremen take them off the ships, and Teamsters process them... same goes for all the ports in the US. My ex still works for Toyota, in Long Beach... 30 years now. He's had no complaints to speak of... Good pay and benefits.

3. It's a little known fact...
Especially in the pro-American car crowd at DU. They build cars in the US now too... I'm not sure if they are union shops, but the original shop that installed beds on Toyota pick-up trucks was a Teamster shop as well. All the guys who load cars onto transport trucks and rail cars (my ex is still loading rail cars to this day) are definitely union.

5. Hi Neighbor!
It sure is! Acres and acres of gleaming steel! It started with this little shop on Pier J... Mort Davis Company... Mort was married to one of the Our Gang actresses... Darla? He was a gem. She was a tiny tea-cup of a person... very sweet.

I grew up in Lomita, where the PV peninsula hooks up with the mainland:)

:hi:
