2. little less bleak
I can live with that right now. That's how I see the job picture (and general economy) developing in my neighborhood, as well.

3. Maybe this is why the stock market dropped several hundred points
And I thought it was because of Scott Brown's election in Massachusetts.

5. I am wondering how we shed jobs and the unemployment rate went down
I suspect a whole lot of people fell out of the group that is counted. Doesn't matter. I live in Nevada and our jobs are never coming back AFAICS.

6. The U3 number is meaningless
and there are plenty of threads on this.

The number went down by moving people out of the labor force into the discouraged worker category.

You cannot have a net loss of jobs in a month and say unemployment is falling.

7. Wait! It's not a nefarious plot of book cooking that got us to 9.7%?!?!
Because, according to DU's conspiracy theorists, that's what's really going on. According to them, he Obama Administration is cooking the books to make themselves look better. Wooohooo! 9.7% is soooo much better than 10%. Someone ought to tell the Administration the next time they should cook the books to be around 6%... that'd be much more impressive.

10. The takeaway from that graph is that Obama stopped the drop. 12 months of rapid descent under Bush
12 months of putting on the breaks by Obama. Now he needs Congress to pass a Jobs bill that will put us back on course.

14. I absolutely agree that the steps taken helped to mitigate the
disaster that Shrub left us. However,I am not overly confident that we have found a definitive bottom yet.

15. No, the Republicon takeaway is that Obama didn't reverse the drop fast enough
and never mind that the nose dive started on Republicon watch
