We are losing the propaganda battle.
Edited on Fri Feb-05-10 12:37 PM by kentuck
Our country and our country almost collapsed and the Republicans have amnesia. They pretend nothing happened. Everything was great when George W Bush left office. All the problems began under Barack Obama. Either they are naive or they are liars. But they have to be called out on their hypocrisy.

Even after the President called them on their fake talking points, they never slowed down a step. The President needs help from the Democrats. We are in the midst of a propaganda war and the lies are winning. The "tea baggers" and the Obama haters are ignorant. They will believe whatever they are told. This is no time for civility, contrary to what the President might suggest. We need to counter every lie they tell. We will all be very busy.

1. I have made it my mission to inform my local neocons about their reps votes
http://www.progressivepunch.org/category.jsp?issue=L7

I don't know how much good it does, honestly.
They begin every rebuttal, regardless of subject, with abortion and killing innocent babies.
Oy.

6. They talk the talk but don't walk the walk on the abortion issue..
There were more abortions under Bush than there were under Clinton. As for family values, the liberal state of Massachusetts has one of the lowest divorce rates in the nation. Their rhetoric does not match the reality.

9. I agree...and there are a LOT of self-induced abortions here..
or the rumor is...taking a large dose of oral contraceptives induces abortion.
They also seem unconcerned about the high rate of birth defects and childhood cancer here due to the cement plants that are unregulated here(thanks to Joe Barton)

4. Agreed.
But honestly, teabaggers are a bunch of ignorant bullies. I've tried taking on some of the lies bloggers spread. The hate mail and threats one receives is pretty frightening. Maybe just questioning one at a time is not the way to go?

7. even when you address a group(like I have in my paper)-
It doesn't dilute the threats and derision.Even if you address a nation,as Obama does,it doesn't eliminate the veiled threats against him.
How do you counteract bullies?Facts and civility don't seem to work...

5. I'm thinking we should give them the country next election(s)
then after the supreme failures of Prez Palin and civil unrest that follows, maybe we can draft a new Constitution, hell 200 years was a good run for the Ol' USA.

eh, just a thought.

10. We just did that over the previous decade. We are only 1 year out and they have already
forgotten it.

The Republicans getting the Presidency again means they get to take our current RW Supreme Court even more to the right. No, thank you.

18. It might be the fastest way to get rid of them.
Apparently a brush with disaster isn't enough. It has to go completely down the tubes, crash, burn, turn to shit and be eaten by hogs before these douchebags will finally give it up.

11. True. Once again.. the DEMS allow the Tea Baggers to control the dialog...
Bush cut $600 Billion of taxes for the upper 1% Wealthy.. it's like it never happened.

The Repukes allowed $400 Billion of un-paid mandates so Big Pharmacy could prosper from Part D...it never happened...

Mad Dog Bush spent $3 trillion and lied us into a non necessary war.... never happened...

Yet the self righteous Republicans now preach about Budgets????

It goes beyond stupidity anymore..

12. Repugs had 25 years to perfect their craft
of lying, spin, and phony outrage. It will take a while to turn the tide. Obama IS making progress in battling the lies. The screaming minority may get louder and more violent, but they will marginalize themselves and the infighting will destroy them.

17. The media is spinning propaganda in favor of the Republicans....
and such giant microphones beats us every time.

When you see 4 republicans for every 1 Democrat featured on television;
a media that doesn't correct the lies told by the Republicans;
negativity when the media speak of the economy; the pundits talking up the GOP,
and talking down the Dems discussing upcoming elections, and teabaggers being
given close-up prominence.....well, that's not helpful to our agenda.
Add to that that even Democrats here and elsewhere dump on this President,
like they are the customer and he's the garbage man......well it can only
result in the Dems losing the propaganda war.

28. support
Have to have support for the policies 1st. has got to get worse before it gets better. Republicans will block jobs bill. Republicans will gain seats in Congress screwing things up worse. At some point a public movement from the left has to arise. reducing the deficit at a time like this is dangerous. their is no economy to produce revenues. republicans look right pass this. They do not care i believe. who is going to pay for the police?
