Real Unemployment 18% - Will Stocks Falter?
Real Unemployment 18% - Will Stocks Falter?
By Simon Maierhofer , On Friday February 5, 2010, 2:21 pm EST

How do fish get caught? They open their mouth. How do investors get ensnared or misled? They believe in non-existent phenomenons like a 'jobless recovery.'

Surprising as it is, for nearly a year, investors have shrugged off mounting jobless claims and rising unemployment as an ingredient that is not really required for an economic recovery.

Yesterday's (2-4-10) announcement by the Department of Labor that claims for unemployment benefits rose by 8,000 to 480,000 sent stocks spiraling.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI: ^DJI), S&P 500 (SNP: ^GSPC), and Nasdaq Composite (Nasdaq: ^IXIC) lost about 3% each, marking the first time in months that concerns over unemployment were raising suspicion. ..........(more)

1. They never discussed "real unemployment" figures when Bush was in office......
But now, it becomes "crucial".

Fuck that shit.
I'm tired of the bias tilted favorably towards those who caused the fucked up mess.....

4. I suppose fighting almost a year to get reform that benefited insurance co.
was a waste. Now another bipartisan group is going to focus on jobs. Yikes.

7. It is impossible to get a job today
They want you to go on line, then when you do you are sent to some other site where they want you to get more education or some other thing that you pay for, nothing about a job. Also if you don't have a cell phone you cannot continue with the program. You cannot go to any store and apply in person, just doesn't happen anymore. What do people do to get any job, even the most menial ones? I cannot afford a cell phone so I am unable to even apply for a job. How ridiculous is that.
