7. Wow, only nine inches and the power is gone?
Have you had ice on top of that or is the power system that bad that it can't handle some snow?

10. it is a very wet and heavy snow... Weighing down lines and branches
my front tree has branches bending to touch the ground that are normally 4 or 5 feet off the ground

12. I understand heavy, wet snow. I've got four inches of it myself outside
And I've had a foot and a half of it on a regular basis out here in Missouri in my life. And yes trees bend and break, but our power system generally holds up to it, even in high wind (which is probably coming next if you don't have it already).

I guess what I'm wondering is this sort of snow such a rarity in Pittsburgh that they just simply don't build for it or what? Or is this just a temporary inconvenience and you'll have power in an hour or two?

Which ever it is, take care, stay warm.

13. We've gone through the harshest winter in 30 years
over here in Germany. In Northern Bavaria, where I live, it's the Big Thaw at the moment.

I stepped on a sheet of ice underneath all the slush early in the morning while on my way to work, and fell flat on my back in this mess. Then I found myself unable to get up, kept slipping and sliding, and briefly considered crawling the remaining 100 feet or so to our office building on all fours. Changed my mind because I didn't want folks to think I was drunk at 7 a.m.

Stay warm and safe!

15. This is heavy wet snow
About 8 inches on the ground here in Eastern Ohio. The trees and wires are coated with snow and are straining against the weight. My shortwave radio antenna is down. I'll be surprised if we don't lose electricity overnight.

19. I'm in little Washington
More like Lone Pine, actually. We measured 21 inches on the ground. Still have our power, although it flickered last night. Haven't seen a plow all day--even the 4 wheel drives are having some trouble getting through.

23. I'm in Maryland, about 30 inches here, and I still have power
I lost power last night for about 3 hours, but we got it back. We are just buried, I would love to have only 9 inches. We aren't equipped to handle snow here.
