Bart Stupak decides not to run for governor of Michigan.
Stupak declines bid for governor

“After careful consideration, I have decided not to seek the Democratic nomination for Governor of Michigan. After lengthy discussions with my family, friends, and party leaders, I believe I can best serve the people of Michigan in the U.S. Congress,” Stupak said in a statement. “My seniority and experience in Congress, where I sit on the Energy and Commerce Committee and serve as Chairman of the Oversight and Investigations subcommittee, afford me a significant opportunity to affect positive change. “

My guess is that no Democrat will be able to win an election for governor this year given the state of the economy here in Michigan. Gov. Granholm, by law, cannot run for a third term.

1. isn't he a member of the conservative, crypto-fascist "Family" anyway?

4. Any hope that Stupak will decide not to run for ANYTHING, including re-election?
There's no way his district is so full of knuckledraggers that Stupak's the best we could get out of there.

7. I was kind of hoping DeVos would run
He is such a horrible candidate that it would increase the Democrats chances of winning dramatically.

8. I'm glad Stupak won't run
There are already some Republican-lite options, we don't need more.

I disagree about the Dems chances of winning. The Republican candidates are very weak. If the Dems pick a good candidate, they could definitely win. I think Bernero would be the best option from the current list of candidates.
