Matt Taibbi: We, the Tea Partiers

· We protest against a heavy-fisted form of government that seeks to further regulate private enterprise and hinder future profits (i.e., banking and energy industries…).

via We, the Tea Partiers – The York Daily Record.

The writer goes on to protest cap and trade, which I also think is a bad idea, but not for the same reasons, obviously. But that other line — that is why the Tea Party “movement” is not a movement but a top-down manipulation, a misdirection.

These are people who’ve been gouged for years by the deregulated banking, mortgage lending, and commodities trading business, and when Obama sends down very weak, watered-down regulations to deal with those problems, they howl that he’s against “private enterprise” because that’s what they’ve been told to think by the Glenn Becks of the world.

Did you know that insider trading isn’t even illegal in the commodities trading business? Do you honestly think gas prices were high in 2008 because we weren’t drilling enough in the Gulf of Mexico?

You idiots are being used. Think for yourselves. If the Fox Network believes it so wholeheartedly, how could it possibly be in your interest? They’ll take your ratings, sure, so they can sell you Charmin and $5 footlongs. I mean, Jesus, how can you not see that? If you had real allies that powerful, don’t you think someone would have taken care of you by now?

2. He could be a white southern man
and they'd be acting just as crazy.

See 1993 to 2001.

They actually are being a little saner this time, they haven't blown any buildings up...yet.

7. I saw a bill board 6 months ago with Uncle Sam advertising Toyota
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I'm familiar with marketing departments, someone tested it, and it was effective.

5. for all the others thing said about it, at its core, it's a thinly veiled 'white power' movement.
the teabaggers are clueless and they didn't dig clinton to be sure, but it's obamas election that got them into streets.

6. They're embarrassed that Democrats know they're really stupid
because we all watched them vote for an incompetent girly-man that could not keep the country safe. We warned them, but they did not listen, and they let their partisan SCOTUS appoint a goober to the presidency.

The racist teabaggers are just whining loudly so they can drown out our laughing in their stupid faces. Sore losers.

12. I did a little research yesterday
For a post at a non-political forum - that has a 'political' board. Read: There are members at the site that are die hard teabaggers, say President Obama "creeps them out", etc. etc. They are allllllllllll over this.

It was kind of "cool" to point out to them that this started from the 9/11 Truth Movement (READ: Their Hero George Bush shot a missile/bomb at the Pentagon) and has slowly been hijacked by Dick Armey. The founder of that movement who had a 'Tea Party' in Boston in 2007 is actually po'd about this 'morphing'. I also enjoyed pointing out that at $550 a pop to attend the 'Party' this weekend - it's kind of been priced out of the Average Jane's (a site for women) pocket book.

And there the post stands - not responded to at all. Crickets.

I'm beginning to think that half of my country is really, truly, Stuck On Stupid. They are never going to get off of that number on the dial. They're just stuck.

13. If that's the case, it was a rather easy hijack.
DU members notwithstanding, the 9/11 conspiracy-theory ranks were quite full of holocaust deniers at the outset. It is important not to sweep this fact under the rug.

16. At risk of sounding like Sisah Sarah
you betcha! ;-)

The media isn't telling any of the 'truth' behind the Tea Party. In the meantime, we're Alice after falling down the rabbit hole - and the Mad Hatter (D. Armey) is trying to tell us we're late.

14. Why only five recommendations?
I don't get it.

These Teabaggers never have an original thought. Come on! They are ignorant enough to think that because President Obama has Czars that it somehow makes him communist. There is no hope for such ignorant rabble. These people stink of stupid.
