What have the politicians in Washington done for the people lately? Not much, except to tighten the screws.

The Democrats are whispering about passing healthcare by reconciliation. Even with that, unless it is by rule change, it can still be filibustered by the Senate. Who makes the rules? Who is the Chair of the Rules Committee? That is who we need to make sure it can be legally done.

Then they have an allotted amount of time for each side to debate the issue. Then they vote on it. All it takes is 50 votes plus the Vice President.

So if they are thinking of doing this, then they might as well pass something that the people can appreciate. That would be a single payer system or a combination of Medicare Plus and a socialized medical system for anyone else that wanted it or needed it. No more premiums to the insurance companies. You would pay it into an insurance fund, operated by the government, meaning we, the people, and and not for profit. They could do that if they wanted to or if they had the spine.

2. That has been my attitude all along.
No sense in passing something bad especially if it's a once in a lifetime thing.

3. As some noted on another thread...
they are going to be called "socialist" no matter what they do or even if they do nothing.

4. That would be nice,
but there AT MOST 35 votes in the Senate for that sort of thing.

Even with reconciliation we need at least 50.

8. Reid should have a vote anyway.
Make 'em take a stand. At least, we would know who is really on our side.

10. I would like to see that too
but he won't do it for just the reason you said - it would show us who is really on our side!

7. as pointed out above me, there's probably 30-40 votes for what you're asking
in having a REAL health reform bill this country TRULY needs. Sadly, we have 10-15 "Democratic" senators who frankly, STINK LIKE CRAP!

I agree - they'll be called socialists no matter what is passed. So, pass a great bill - stick it to the millionaires and esp. the BILLIONaires who live in ways none of us can even imagine...

9. A year late with this. But I think Obama was dead set against this approach from the beginning.
