2. Holy Shite!
Those poor people.
Our back wall fell over- helluva a mess,
but not nearly as bad as those poor folks.

15. Well, the circumstance is poor, but in that area there probably aren't poor people.
And this could hardly have been unexpected, though I don't know if there would have been a practical way to prepare.

So far, no injuries is the news to cheer about.

16. When it involves only one state and is not political news it generally gets kicked out of LBN
to the state forum. At least that's what I've noticed. I don't know if GD threads would be kicked the same way.

4. Looking at the second picture, I certainly wouldn't want to
live in that house..there is nothing but a big downward slope behind the house. They're just asking for a race to the bottom if there's another deluge.

6. LA Basin can only ecologically support 250000 people
Edited on Sat Feb-06-10 05:06 PM by FreakinDJ
How many folks they have living there ???????

Sorry for not being more sympathetic, but when the CA State Water Resources Board ordered the Dams in Northern California to HOLD WATER in 1996, so the reserves for Southern California would be FULL, the result was the SEVERE FLOODING of several Northern California

I don't think 1 person in Southern California said "I'm Sorry"

...on edit..

Enjoy the Mud - when we flooded in 1996 we had 15 feet of water

9. No, we live where we live. But folks do get annoyed with people who
live at the base of hills or in fire zones.

11. Or in arid land and want to water their lawn
or can't design a damm that will hold water and instead go out draining Mono Lake and China Basin

18. Sorry to be throwing rocks but............
We have been on Water Rationing while literally watching our rivers and lakes flow south to LA where there is no water rationing and they could give a dam about water conservation.

Shame that Mulholland guy who designed all the dams shot himself after the 1st one broke. He could have possibly engineered a good repair and the LA basin could be collecting it's own rainfall and using it for their own water supply. Instead LA county found it lucrative for a few Cement and Hi-Way contractors to turn the drained lake beds into gravel quarries.

snow storms are not as bad as land slides and floods.
