I think tonight is the absolute lowest point in American politics to date.

Going to be hard to top this ridiculous display being taken seriously by anyone.

That quitting will also help keep her from becoming a real contender in the future, whereas she might have managed to win on a national ticket, just as GWB did, if the powers that be had decided to groom her for the role, and if she had been given enough time to actually get prepared for public performance. At the very least she could have ended up as a senator, but I do think that given enough time, she could have been groomed as a threatening VP candidate. She would still be incompetent, but her incompetence would be disguised under a veneer of polish if they'd had time to work on her.
