my own experience with "bipartisan"-election judge training.
I went to election judge workshop yesterday...each voting district must have a Democrat and Republican judge and alternate.I laughed to myself as I thought about the post"Can you spot a Republican by his/her looks" a few weeks ago.
The Republican women all had that same stiff "church lady" ambiance. The men all had the same glad-handing smirk. You could spot a democrat a mile away-they actaqully looked uncloned, relaxed, and HUMAN.
The trainer mentioned that since many tasks had to be done by a Republican and a Democrat, that we might consider riding together. That was met by rolled eyes and "as if"expressions.
When one man asked a question about poll watchers, the lady next to me whispered"He must be a democrat" to her friend.I don't get this veiled hostility.I expected some to be directed towards me,sice I am such a vocal democrat in my community, but it's funny how they can't confront you to your face.I just smiled pleasantly to all, made small talk, and tried to rise above their pettiness.Oy.
