Palin says 'absurd' not to ponder presidential bid - Says she gets daily briefings from Washington
Palin says 'absurd' not to ponder presidential bid

WASHINGTON – Sarah Palin says it would be "absurd" for her not to consider running for president in 2012.

The former Alaska governor and the Republican vice presidential nominee in 2008 says she will run for president if she believes it's right for the country and right for her family.

Palin was asked on "Fox News Sunday" if she knows more today about domestic and foreign affairs than she did two years ago. Her response: "Well, I would hope so."

She says her focus has widened since she was governor of Alaska. Palin says she gets daily briefings by e-mail on domestic and foreign policy issues from advisers in Washington.

1. She will run and she will win
With Obama being torn down by not just the Republicans, but also his own party (as evidenced by the rancour on DU and elswhere), Palin is our next president.

We are fucking toast.

5. Well then, perhaps the Democratic party needs to get its act together
And stop alienating those whose votes it needs. Trying to frighten the left into line by rattling the specter threat of a Palin presidency is nowhere near as effective as, oh say, giving us a HCR that is genuinely reform (hint, a strong public option would be a start).

6. Perhaps Obama and the majority we put in Congress should start doing
the jobs we put them there to do, and then we wouldn't have to worry.

12. Unfortunately, you are probably correct.
People joke about her, but W got in there. Collectively, Americans are a stupid, stupid people caring more about flash than substance. With the liberals slamming Obama and saying they will primary him, and not vote in the mid-terms so he has even a hope of a decent Senate majority, I have no doubt she'd win if this kind of fuckery continues.

It told me a lot that the first three responses to my response could not be read by me.

PResident Palin, the will of the extreme left.

16. I don't think so.
The republican power base doesn't want her. She cannot be controlled. They like manageable puppets in charge.

They will destroy her should she run and will blame it on the dems.

Her victimhood will be part of their battle cry.

33. As in Dick
There is no way in hell the GOP would allow two women to have leadership. The support for females is a means to an end, not a real position.

18. Ain't gonna happen. Here's why:
As pissed off and emotional as some of us get when considering how, i.e., health care reform "should" have been handled, I think there are damn few who don't really still believe that this president is different in a fundamenally good way.

Given some time, a Congress with some effective team players and some grassroots enthusiasm, this can still be a "watershed" presidency which will mark the resurgence of this nation as a moral leader in the world.

I can't help it---"and peace will rule the planets, and love will steer the stars!"

26. This was our plot all along.
First let Obama win by running a doddering old man against him. Then block everything he tries to do, so that he seems ineffective and is a one term president. America's first and last black president.

Then set up Sarah for the presidency. Once she wins, you don't have to do anything, she'll screw it up all on her own. One term. America's first and last women president.

There you have it. In eight years, the presidency will be returned to it's natural order, white males only.

HaHaHaHa. (evil laugh).

27. Funniest post today

She has ZERO support outside of the tea baggers.

She would never make it out of the GOP primary and a third party run would be a disaster for her.

I can't believe there are really people there outside of the tea baggers who can say this publicly.

34. I don't see why ANY democrat would ever run again after the way
Obama has been treated by members of his own party. First, Reid decided that he didn't work for Obama so he didn't have to do anything Obama wanted him to do. If Reid had only pushed for HCR to be done before August, as Obama stated publicly that he wanted, then HCR would be a done deal and it would have been a much better Senate version than the one we have now. But NO. Reid let Baucus take control, bring the process to a standstill, and taking the bill as far right as it could get and still be somewhat tolerable to the other Senate Dems.

In the meantime, Obama is out there going to town hall meetings, facing idiots who think bringing GUNS to those meetings is just peachy, trying his hardest to keep the nation focused on health care reform.

Then the rank and file decided that Obama could somehow wave a magic wand and fix every damn thing without acknowledging that if Reid isn't on board then Obama can't make the Senate do anything. Pelosi WAS on board and got the job done in the House and it was a pretty darned GOOD bill that they came up with. The difference is in the 2 leaders of the respective chambers, NOT Obama.

There are some legitimate areas of disagreement. One thing Obama does have control over is who he appoints to cabinet positions. If you don't like those appointees and the policies that come under their purview, it's obviously Obama you're going to blame. Perfectly valid.

But if you don't like the Senate bill, for Christ's sake, blame Reid and Baucus. If you don't blame them, but you DO blame Obama, then you either don't understand basic rules of government, or you're trying to be a little cagey about your reasons to dislike Obama. And it's not working. We get it.

True daily briefings they are not. She just likes to sound all presidential and important.

They are probably study notes and talking points.

Any group that fronts her as a puppet and if she wins will have their work cut out for them when she goes all rogue on them, doesn't listen and does what she wants. The rest of us better buy up the duct tape and plastic wrap.
