under the status update field (there's a link icon).

2. Remind me not to post on any more of your threads.
If I wanted to have discussions on Facebook, I would join Facebook.

That's what I was going to say. Like we want to show up on the facebook pages of 867 of the OP's closest "friends." I don't think so.

ON EDIT: oops, this was meant in response to the "remind me not to post to any of your threads" post.

11. Because you are making the choice for other people?
Edited on Sun Feb-07-10 10:12 PM by theHandpuppet
I don't want anything to do with Facebook. That's my choice and I'll be damned if others' rights don't mean anything to you.

12. if someone is on Facebook and friended someone else, they have chosen to receive info from them
so I'm not sure how cross posting from here will harm anyone unless you think the ideas discussed here are harmful.

13. I am not on Facebook
...and posting here on DU is not an automatic invitation for you to share my discussion or anyone else's with any group you see fit. Who the hell are you to make that choice for everyone here?

14. ah! I see. You don't want someone to stop you at the mall and ask you about
what you posted as Handpuppet.

17. I won't post any of your threads. But you do know that Freepers and others regularly
scan this site and they are far less friendly than any eyeballs I would attract.

18. Dude. It's the intertubes.
Posting ANYTHING on ANY site is indeed an automatic invitation for anyone to share your discussion with any group they see fit.

20. Ever have your mailbox crammed to the gills with unsolicited "invitations"?
Well I have... from FACEBOOK users whose 1500 nearest and dearest friends, 1499 of whom you don't know from Adam, send you email invitations to be their pal on Facebook because they are friends with friends of a friend of their third cousin once-removed. Sorry, but I don't get that kind of crap from ANY OTHER discussion group to which I belong. Opening yourself up to Facebook is like opening the door to a freaking plague of locusts. It's MY choice whether or not to keep the door locked.

7. What I do is to add the post to my Journal, then click on the entry and
Edited on Sun Feb-07-10 08:44 PM by MineralMan
share that on facebook. Somewhere, probably on Facebook, I found a little app that you put in your favorites that posts whatever website you're on to Facebook, complete with an excerpt and image, if there is one. I think I got it on Facebook, but who knows.

When you share a single journal entry, the discussion is available to anyone who clicks the link.

Here's where you can find the thing to add to your bookmarks or favorites. Works great!

What you do when you visit a page you want to share is click this in your favorites and it automatically shares it on your Facebook page. Works every time.

10. I have a "share on FB" button on my browser.
I forget how I got it. I think on one of the sites that I clicked a FB button, I got a notice that said something like "You could share this more easily if you added a blah blah button." It's pretty nice to have.

15. I am on FB and already left one of my favorite web sites because of cross-posting.
It is in very bad form to force your choices upon the rest of us who prefer to keep things separate.
