Rahm and Limbaugh Agree about the Left
LIMBAUGH: Our political correct society is acting like some giant insult’s taken place by calling a bunch of people who are retards, retards. I mean these people, these liberal activists are kooks. They are looney tunes. And I’m not going to apologize for it, I’m just quoting Emanuel. It’s in the news. I think their big news is he’s out there calling Obama’s number one supporters f’ing retards. So now there’s going to be a meeting. There’s going to be a retard summit at the White House.

Is this akin to Hamsher and Norquist agreeing about Rahm? Does the guilt by association thing apply here?

2. Perfectly legitimate for me to ask what the Democratic President's CofS is doing
giving one of the worst right wing haters his talking points against us. Also legitimate to ask how this is different from Hamsher throwing in with Norquist for which she was severely condemned here.

32. Help me with the "Silly Season" thing.
Is it a real event, or is it a tactic to invalidate an opinion unpopular with the cool kids on the playground?

13. Rahm and Rush agree that Liberals are retards.
That should bother anyone on the Dem side of the divide, including Obama supporters.

28. Supporting the president means supporting his decisions...
and his appointees. And the positions of his appointees.

Rahm and Rush sitting in a tree...

5. This is getting ridiculous
Rahm was saying that behavior that the left was engaging in (talking about primarying Dem candidates in conservative districts from the left) being retarded (a unfortunate choice of words to be sure) versus calling liberals retards. That you don't see a difference (especially after Rahm has repeatedly apologized), tells me you don't want to see a difference.

Obviously the President wants Rahm exactly where he is. Maybe one reason is it gives people like yourself an opportunity to bash the administration without getting the President dirty.

I mean a link where he apologized to liberals, not where he apologized to Palin.

Nor did he apologize to parents of disabled children. The only person I saw that he apologized to was the CEO of Special Olympics.

14. He has repeatedly apologized to the developmentally disabled but he has never apologized to liberals
Apparently, he agrees with Rush.

I think the lack of rebuke for Rahm's offensiveness towards the left from his boss is an indication of his boss' feelings. I did not always think that but the longer it goes on with nothing being done about him the harder it becomes to ignore.

21. For a long time I believed Obama overlooked Rahm's obnoxious behavior towards the left...
...because he found him valuable for some reason. As time has gone on with no signs of trying to rein in Rahm's belligerence towards us I have to conclude he agrees with him.

10. How come when we supposedly have the most liberal government in over 8 years
it's still open season on insulting liberals?

As a liberal, I'm tired of it. I thought liberals would have at least fought back on the insults. I was sadly mistaken.

Why is it always easier to insult us liberals than for anyone to stand up and defend us?

Edited on Mon Feb-08-10 09:57 AM by laughingliberal
And in agreeing with Rush Limbaugh, I think that puts his CofS far to the right of a centrist.

I think much more liberal bashing out of the administration will ensure most liberals 'get over it' come election time. I believe a lot of them will be so 'over it' they'll decide they don't have time to show up at the polls. I'm sure this vote suppression effort aimed at the liberal Democrats is going to get them just what they want.

Whether he called us or the ads for which we raised money to support a policy Obama still claimed to be in favor of 'retarded,' it was still an insult. Don't worry. We will 'get over it.' I think very soon we will all be 'over' the triangulation with the Pubs and the insults of the left.

31. "I didn't call you a bitch. I said you're BEIN' a bitch." (Comedic movie line...)
When you use the word "bitch" or "retarded", it doesn't matter if you're limiting your appellation to a person's behavior or their total being, you're being an offensive jerk who deserved to be ignored. Same with those who defend such jerks with semantics and equivocation.

26. That one of our own would insult the base
is bad enough, now Palin defends Limbaugh, hey, it's okay if one of her supporters says it... do we have to defend Rahm? I don't think so, this board would go nuts over the something % that still supported Bush and anything he or one of his cabinet members said or did (aka Karl Rove) - why should Emmanuel be given any slack? I found the comment by Rahm offensive, dismissive and just plain crude. If he can not find a way to work with the liberal base, then I say fire the guy .. but perhaps they are just too eager to win over the right?

34. This "Centrist" administration thinks it's going to tough its way
through 2010 and 2012. They aren't. They are alienating people. They are losing people. They will miss those people on election day. And then they will accuse those people of apathy for not appreciating and throwing their votes behind the clear lesser of two evils.

Obama has already hedged his bet by saying he isn't counting on a second term, attempting to deny those who might oppose him the ability to use a second term to influence him.

Nobody should get excited about this stuff. It isn't worth it. Just let the karma, good and bad, accumulate, and be agents of karma come election day.
