NY Governor Patterson to resign?
Just got this via email from a DFA member.

Google news has a few stories implicating a NYT story on an unnamed scandal.

1. I found 2 conflicting stories just now
The rumor mill is humming with details on the upcoming New York Times probe of Governor David Patterson of New York which is being reported by N.Y. Times journalist Danny Hakim.
Allegedly the story will find Patterson having intimate moments in closets in the Executive Mansion and his wife also being involved in separate affairs. There are also rumors of extensive drug use
In addition, there is talk that state troopers who discovered this activity are warned off the mansion residence and that they have talked to the Times.
The story, expected to run Wednesday is said to be so strong and so damaging that Richard Ravitch, the Lieutenant Governor, is set to step in because the revelations will undoubtedly force Patterson to resign.

but there is this:

NEW YORK (Reuters) – New York Democratic Governor David Paterson is not planning to resign, his spokeswoman said on Monday, calling blog reports "entirely fabricated."

"This is a new low even by the standards of planet Albany. The circus of the past week -- entirely fabricated out of thin air and innuendo -- is an embarrassment for all who have played a role in fueling it," Marissa Shorenstein said by e-mail.

Paterson, a former legislator and lieutenant governor, became governor in 2008 after former Governor Eliot Spitzer, also a Democrat, resigned amid a prostitution scandal.

Since last week, media blogs, including the Huffington Post, have said the New York Times was on the brink of publishing a story so scandalous that Paterson would have resign.
