I think the difference is that they know it is not so important for men... they know that it is only of primary importance for women.

All I'm saying is that the 'mainstream' view, if you will, is that it's only important for women to be hot. I think that some guys do think they're 'butt ugly' (as the other person said)... they just don't place as much importance on it, because that view isn't pushed so ubiquitously by society (the way it is for women).

The issue was not that CBS chose to run an ad from Focus on the Family; it’s that CBS has consistently been inconsistent in its policy of running ads on “controversial” issues. For example, they seem to have no problem running an ad reducing the status of women to the function of their uteruses. But an ad for the proposition that homosexuals should be fully equal members of society? Horrors! That ad may not, must not, run. It’s too “controversial”!

Now, what is the difference between the Focus on the Family ad and the ad from either Mancrunch or the United Church of Christ? Well, one appeals to the prejudice and bigotry of a certain segment of our society. The other ads deny those prejudices. By failing to address this central point, Erick “Son of Erick” Erickson deliberately tries to avoid the issue, and gets a dig in at ugly chicks all at once. Genius!

I see a theme here with strong women and female rights being associated with being ugly or unwanted. I would bet that Erickson's wife, if he has one, is neither attractive nor a feminist.
