Why hasn't anything been done with immigration...
either amnesty or some kind of "pathway to citizenship" that shrub talked about?

Tax revenues would increase, and millions of people would no longer have to live in the shadows. Additionally, those millions would now be able to vote without fear of deportation. A Democratic bill that grants amnesty to illegal immigrants who are already here would create millions of Democratic voters, especially when every Rethug votes against it.

I think something like this should be done quickly while we still control both houses.

1. I think it should happen, but the plates are overloaded. Everyone
has their priorities, and this unfortunately is going to be another massive fight. Too many contentious issues, too little time?

Fearful undocumented workers keep wages depressed overall.

7. +1
Workers who work for substandard wages and are afraid to voice complaints about unsafe/illegal work standards are what way too many companies want.

3. Not gonna happen
The fear from the Brown election in MA practically guarantees it.

That's fine with me, if the current illegals were made legal, then they'd just be replaced by new illegals. Farmers and some corporations have a need for workers who won't be able to fight back.

4. Isn't there already a pathway to citizenship?...
... Immigrants do pay taxes. A friend of mine just got her citizenship in September followed by her passport in October. She works hard and pays taxes. I have four friends who are in varying stages of getting their citizenship finalized. They all work and pay taxes. I personally know of multiple families of immigrants who are in the process of getting citizenship the old fashioned way. They all work and they all pay taxes...

Did you mean illegal immigration?

9. I understand wanting immigration reform but not sure how it will create millions of Dem voters
Immigrants can't vote until they become citizens.

12. Because illegal immigrants drive wages down.
And that makes Corporate CEOs and their stockholders happy.
