Do the mods give out the mystery hearts? Perhaps to encourage donations?

I know of no one here that would give me a heart. Yeah, I'll donate. Like last time, I can't afford much, but come Friday, I'll donate.

to those who are active on the boards, or who have donated in the past but haven't so far this quarter. Actually, that would be a pretty clever incentive to get people to donate.

I got a heart from someone as well, and yes it's surprising. In fact, it made me feel better as I've been dealing with a web site that's been offline since yesterday morning. Hardware issues that I have no control over are to blame, but I get most of the stress from it at any rate. It's still down this morning, and no one can tell me when it might be restored.

Sometimes it's the little things strangers do that have the most impact on someone.

Thanks to the annonymous donor, even if it is DU. (I'll donate in the next day or two.) :)

I can only imagine the bandwidth bills that DU has. Even on my little site with 600 users I have a decent size bill.

they can donate and give anonymous hearts to whom they choose. If they do it, they do it for the same reasons the rest of the membership does: kindness.
