Can anyone tell me how
to post an article from an online source in one of those gray boxes? Maybe I'm blatantly missing something very simple but I'm not sure how. Any help would be appreciated :)

1. I'd like to know that too
Also, how to make a link appear in blue writing.

5. See here for example:
(font color="color" size="size" face="face")PUT YOUR TEXT HERE(/font)

Just replace the parentheses, (), with brackets,[]. Then replace the underlined attributes, color/size/face, with what you want them to be. Be logical, ie, chartreuse is probably not a supported color. Finally, replace the underline Message with your own

8. I always wanted to know how to make the writing appear blue, too, but I'm
totally cyber-challenged. Hence, the blueberries reference!

2. Use the block quote feature in your HTML lookup table: [div class="excerpt"] text [/div]

Your text - the article you want to quote - fits between the two sets of brackets

3. See here for example:
Edited on Mon Feb-15-10 10:36 AM by OneTenthofOnePercent
(div class="excerpt")POST YOUR ARTICLE TEXT HERE(/div)

Just replace the parenthesis in the above sentanec, (), with brackets, [].
Then replace my underlined text with your article between the bracketed html tags.
See how this is done below:

Mary had a little lamb, it's fleece was white as snow. And everywhere that mary went...
teabaggers pointed at the white-as-snow wool and joked about "global warming blizzards".
Mary smiled because, joke's on them, this blizzard is driven by temperate winter climate feeding storm systems.

6. When you post.. look for the link called "HTML lookup table"
When you click on that you'll see a choice:
"Create a styled, indented blockquote (useful for posting excerpts from articles)"

Put YOUR "text" in place of where it says "text", and what you type will show up in "one of those boxes"

7. Somewhere in you preferences you have to have...
html enabled. I think that's the default, but check anyway.

Then, when you post you will see "HTML lookup table" up there in "message options." Click it and a popup box shows the HTML coding you can use in messages.

You kinda have to have some idea how to use the codes, and a few don't work exactly the way a lot of us are used to, so use the "Preview" button before posting to see how things look.

9. Laura, thanks so much for asking this question.
And thanks to everyone who answered. I had no idea how to do that, either. This is what I love about DU. I learn something new every day!
