Did Evan Bayh have any interest on issues that he was passionate about ?
the way Ted Kennedy was with Health Care. even McCain with campaign finance reform.
Al Gore was a conservative when he was in the Senate but he took interest in things like environment and yes, he did take leadership in getting internet as we know it today(and he never claimed to have invented it).

Jack Murtha is another conservative member who spoke out against the war in Iraq even though he has been conservative.

so being from a conservative state is not an excuse.

i don't think Evan Bayh did anything or had much passion for any issue. his whole thing on any issue was always about how we need to be moderate and criticizing liberals.

i think he stayed in Senate hoping he would be VP and/or President. someone like Bayh could not win the nomination unless he were to become VP . with Obama not picking him for VP he realizes it's unlikely he will ever be President or even get picked for VP.

the way he has gone out is the same way he has been in his years in the Senate.

1. Evan is the cursory overview, the long-distance observer, the
stale cake in the far back refrigerator shelf.

His wife seems to keep busy with the Big Pharma folks.

He lacks the verve of his dad and in so lacking verve abandons his dad's vision of public service.

2. The only thing Bayh ever really took an interest in was making sure...

... Eli Lilly made big profits. The only time he was passionate about anything was when Eli Lilly profits were threatened.

4. he cared about helping corporations. Other than that...
well, I wish him ill luck in his new lobbying position, with whatever corporation screwing the American people he chooses to defend.
