14. I told my son and his wife they can bunk with me if worse comes to worse
so far they are barely getting by

I almost feel like I should give him what retirement savings I have and call it even.

its ridiculous that it should be like this.

16. Please don't give them your retirement savings..
share space & food, but you will NEED what you have saved, and they at least have time on their side..time you don't.

having Mom living a secure retired life is a gift you can give to them..

19. I forget who said it, or what the exact quote was but
"Home is where, if you have to go back there, they have to take you in."

........

Paying for the roof over your head and the costs of having a home, is what kills a meager budget..

Making extra food & throwing down some air-mattresses is something everyone can do
and most houses these days are significantly larger than depression-era houses were..

3. "May not" is key
Edited on Wed Feb-17-10 02:34 PM by tonysam
It depends on what my idiot senator, Harry Reid, does next week. It also depends if individual recipients are currently on a federal EUI tier. If they are not on one by the end of the month, they won't be eligible for an extension. If they are, it means the tier they are currently on is their last one until Congress moves to extend the date.

I'd like to know why in the hell Congress is off for the entire week when this issue needs to be handled.

6. My extended state is done this week,
so I should be able to qualify for the federal tier III, unless the state extension counts as part of it. In any case, I shouldn't be out on the streets for a few more months at least.

7. this is a matter of life and death for a lot of people
it infuriates me that we can spend 52,000 a minute on 2 wars and nothing on the people of the united states.

8. You better believe it.
Nevada's unemployment rate is almost as high as Michigan's, and there is NO end in sight to high unemployment.

People are leaving here in droves. I plan to follow shortly.

It's worse for people like me who are really "too old" to start over with a new "career" after having one illegally stolen, yet people like me are too young for SS and full pension benefits.

11. this will be what brings the Dems down if they do not hurry up
and make a radical change..I mean goddamned fucking immensely radical change

they need to put huge tariffs on imported goods, discourage the fucking hell out of outsourcing jobs, tax the living shit out of the top 1 percent, and go after corporate tax breaks like there was no tommorrow..plus stop pouring all the goddamned money into the MILITARY and defense dept

otherwise they can kiss this country goodbye

9. Congress just doesn't get it
They are getting a paycheck and don't understand what people are going through. They only think of this legislation in political terms. If they actually putting people first, this extension would already be passed.

18. This extension was just another bill FILIBUSTERED by the tyrannical minority!
The weirdness that makes 41 a majority big enough to stymie the will of the people has struck a very painful blow.

15. we do our best to get by...
we get mad,scream and cry
but when it`s all said and done
we sit there and wonder
what we have done
to deserve this misery

sometimes we are strong and sometimes we are weak
we look across the table
ask what we are going to do
sometimes there`s answers
and sometimes there is not
we look across the table
and we know that`s all we got.......
