Anyone else boycotting Thom the rest of the week?
He's broadcasting live from the Sea Of Hate known as CPAC. Giving 6 hours of precious air time to people who want us wiped out. Trying to find "common ground" with Coulter, King Glenn, Palin, Tancredo, birthers, gun nuts (not responsible owners - the ones who think the prez is going to "grab their guns"), and so on. A terrible waste of our meager resources.

I can count on my fingers how many Hartmann broadcasts I have deliberately skipped over the last 6 years. Add two more to the list.

1. my SO tells me that sometimes we have to
listen to what they say, so we can counter. But, I agree, it is very hard to let their hate speech enter my brain.

2. If you need to listen, just tune into any AM radio station across the country
any day, any time, and knock yourself out. They don't need any of our few minutes.

4. Thom has conservatives on his show all the time
I personally wish there would be fewer and not more on

6. In order to defeat your enemy
You have to know how they think, and what motivates them.

7. You have to know their positions so you can effectively counter their arguments.
You have to listen to them now and then so you'll know what they are saying.

12. uh, you don't need to go to CPAC and broadcast from there
to know their positions. And frankly, I think it's fucking offensive and moronic for Thom to be cozying up these people to find common ground. At CPAC? That's nothing but delusional dogshit.

10. So, you like the right-wing format?
Right-wing talk radio is preaching to the faithful the very same ideology over and over and over again every single day, day after day.

Thom Hartmann has a program that differentiates itself from right-wing and other progressive shows by taking-on some of the nut cases.

It is called "variety" and Hartmann is very good at ripping apart the extremist conservatives he has on the show. Hartmann, like a good progressive, believes in dissent and vigorous debate -- he practices what he preaches -- good on him!

Edit: Rip them apart? He nearly always finds something to agree with them on. And he's always polite and gracious to them

13. He cuts their arguments to ribbons! I don't mind learning additional
ways in which to shut these types down.

14. I like to listen to how Thom takes their arguments apart
while remaining civil. They wind up sounding like the shallow idiots they are. Sometimes, I watch the rerun, too. :)
