Rap star says Romney touched first
Rap star says he was 1 in Romney confrontation
By GLEN JOHNSON, AP Political Writer

Friday, February 19, 2010

(02-19) 08:30 PST BOSTON, (AP) --

A rap star says former Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney first touched him — and not the other way around — during a confrontation aboard a taxiing Air Canada flight.

Sky Blu says in a video on TMZ.com he was trying to go to sleep when he leaned his seat back on a Vancouver-to-Los Angeles flight Monday. He says Romney loudly told him to straighten it and grabbed his shoulder.

Gordy says he swung at Romney to defend himself. He says Romney's wife, Ann, screamed and the plane returned to the gate before two police officers escorted Gordy off.

Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom (FURN'-strum) has no comment. Aides said this week that Romney told them he thought the other person was a band member.

1. In a dispute between a powerful reich-wing pol and a rapper, who do you think is going
to get screwed by the authorities?

24. But if the rapper has witness
that Romney "touched" him he can file an assult against him. And then I would go after the airline for not protecting me.

4. Why does Romney think it matters if the other person was "a band member"?
Is the Mittster saying that you have the right to be an asshole, but only towards those who AREN'T famous?

10. Since when can you recline your seat while taxiing for takeoff? Sky's story doesn't add up -
- Anyone that has ever flown knows that you are not allow to recline while taxiing before takeoff. Everyone is upright, trays are up, seat belts on. Sky's story has a hole big enough to fly a 747 through.

11. Maybe that doesn't apply to first class... or Air Canada
I'm sure that 2-degree tilt causes planes to crash on take-off all the time.

18. Why do they have that restriction on when seats can be reclined, anyway?
Does it ever make any practical difference?

I mean, if you're flight hits a mountain at cruising speed, it's not really gonna matter whether you were sitting up straight at the time.

22. well, I'd guess having the seat upright might lock it into position better, maybe?
maybe it would help keep the seats from snapping forwards if there was an impact?

20. I've not flown Air Canada but its been the consistent rule on all flights I've been on -
- certainly someone on this board is familiar with Air Canada and can give some insight regarding take off rules.

12. If they were waiting for a long time
I can see trying to sleep. That said, I can also see grabbing someone's shoulder if they are sleeping to wake them up before the takeoff. He probably should have just buzzed the flight attandant though.

but since I wasn't there to see it I can't say. There's something about airplanes that can bring out the worst in people.

If he'd seen this picture, he'd never have touched Mr. Blu

Edited to remove a photo of Mr. Blu posing semi-naked on his Christmas card - I don't know how to link so you can click to the photo, and I don't want anyone to see something they'd rather not.
