Yesterday's ChiTrib reported that Katie Gillespie, a zoo worker at Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo (a great place for an afternoon visit) was studying (NO, not the apes) people as they observed the zoo's apes.
She noted that few people actually read the signs and interactive displays, but were seemingly mesmerized by the near humans. The human subjects ignored videos and other information.
On the other side of the glass, the apes hid their copies of the Nation and National Review, and debated, quietly, current styles of dress, the impact of human activity on global wamring and the stupidity of Bush's war policies. Except for those really cute youngsters and babies, they found the humans rather uninformed, boring and stupid.
