Bristol Palin has scored an acting gig....
NEW YORK – Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol will make her acting debut on the ABC Family drama series, "The Secret Life of the American Teenager."

The network says the 19-year-old will play herself on an episode scheduled to shoot and air this summer. It will deal with the consequences of teen pregnancy.

The network calls Bristol Palin the most famous teenage mother in America. She was pregnant as her mother campaigned for vice president. Bristol Palin gave birth to her son, Tripp, in December 2008.

The TV series focuses on the relationships between families and friends and how they deal with teenage issues. It premiered two years ago, and its cast includes Molly Ringwald and Mark Derwin.

30. Because media sources keep thinking we want to hear the stories.
That if they publish them, people will read them, post them on blogs, and other people will discuss them. Thereby driving up sales of the media sources' products.

That if she's cast in a position that she's not qualified for, or even if she is qualified for one that she'd never have been considered for, it will raise interest and viewership. (Considering that there are probably 500k people that could act as well as the average tv actor, and perhaps 500 jobs in the tv/movie industry that require acting skills, it's all about applicants' access to being auditioned and the studio's beliefs as to what will drew viewership.)

We have met the enemy, and he is us.

17. The "consequences of teen pregnancy". Well I hope they
explore the real consequences and not the privileged life of Bristol Palin who is making money off of her decision to be a teen aged mother and seems to have a family willing to support her, roof over her head and all her needs met.

18. The Immoral Minority has good commentary on this
today (second post). http://theimmoralminority.blogspot.com/

First her pregnancy gets announced to the national media during a presidential campaign. She then spends several months cohabitating with her boyfriend in Wasilla while her mother is giving speeches across the country. Then she supposedly gives birth to her baby in December but hides from view until February 16, when she suddenly reappears on the Greta Van Susteren show where she, quite truthfully, admits that "abstinence isn't realistic". During the time between giving birth and making her television appearance Bristol kicks her "fiancee" to the curb. Next she appears as an ambassador for Candies, but for some reason seems to do very little to earn the title. (Sound familiar?) And then, just like her mother, she quits and we hear very little from her until recently.

Today Bristol lives in a compound on a dead lake, and allows her mother to sic her attack lawyer on the boy who made her the most famous teen mother in the world in order to wrest custody of their child away from him. Somehow I don't see a lot of teens relating to Bristol's bizarre life.

And I do not want to be cruel but Bristol always appeared to be VERY uncomfortable in front of the camera so I kind of wonder how she will do when she is expected to remember lines of dialogue and emote on command. Still it will be interesting to see if yet another rumor gets confirmed when we see her appear before the camera again.

Hmm I wonder if this will be filmed in the Wasilla studio, or if Bristol has to leave her babies (However many there are!) in order to fly out of state? I know a VERY nice family that would be glad to watch at least one of them for her.

Update: It looks like Bristol is not the only one getting ready for her close up.

This will be Sarah's first time on the show in anything other than a brief skit. I wonder if Leno has the guts to turn to her and ask "So, what about all of those babies?"

Also of interest, while we're talking Palin stuff, http://progressivealaska.blogspot.com/2010/02/saradise-lost-and-found-chapter-13-cbj.html

It is as simple as this:

Dr. Cathy Baldwin-Johnson, who helped save my son Alex's life when he had wrapped his umbilical cord into an overhand knot in his mom's womb, is the only person I know capable of unraveling another knot.

After the birth of Sarah Palin's younger son, questions came up about the wisdom shown by Palin in her "wild ride" scenario, as described then by her 'helpful' dad. Shortly afterward, Baldwin-Johnson made a short appearance with an attorney, regarding her consultation with Palin after the latter's water broke.

Then the doctor disappeared for months, until her name surfaced attached to a letter that Baldwin-Johnson has never acknowledged as having actually authored.

Jesse Gryphen published a story Tuesday morning at The Immoral Minority that purports anomalies discovered in pictures of Trig Palin indicate there may be more than one person who has been presented by the Palins as representing the person generally acknowledged to be her younger son.

Palin has repeatedly claimed in the national media that she has presented for public scrutiny a birth certificate for Trig. That is not the case. I've observed a few times here that this seeming lie should be taken up by the so-called media. As yet, to my knowledge, it hasn't been.

21. I know Phil Munger who writes Progressive Alaska,
and he is the farthest thing from a "birther" you'd ever find. He's been downplaying the "Trig isn't Sarah's baby" stories ever since they first popped up, BEFORE Sarah was even picked for VP.

I think he's just pointing out that there are some big, big holes in the story Sarah has concocted surrounding Trig's birth, and if Dr. CBJ could do a little clarification it would lay the whole matter to rest.

Barack Obama HAS produced his birth certificate. Sarah has produced nothing except apparently two or three babies who don't seem to match up, and a crazy unbelievable story about how she passed up numerous hospitals between Texas and here after her water broke, knowing that she was carrying a special needs baby, and knowing that she was 45 years old and at risk.

I'm still skeptical, but you can't deny that if it turns out she has pulled off a gigantic hoax, it will, or should, destroy her with her base.

27. I'm with you and Munger, Blue: BIG holes in Sarah's 'story'
I just love the irony of imagining the Birfers asking someone other than Obama for their long-form birth certificate -- particularly someone like Pale Horse Palin where there actually is sufficient reason to raise the question.

But I don't think it will ever happen, because the birfers are not interested in facts, as they have demonstrated, and neither are the Palins, as they have demonstrated.

32. I believe you are confusing "offspring" and "kids"...
while Bristol Palin is indeed a teenage mother...ooops!...make that an unwed teenage mother, she is also a legal adult. She is signing contracts and making $$$$$ from her celebrity, notoriety, infamy... whatever it is called in Cashfortrashland.
That is not the case with the others in your list.

28. I Thought She Was Going To Be On "Teen Mom"
What is it with Americans creating celebrities out of wastes of space? First Paris Hilton, then the Kardashians, and now the Palin family. You can convince a group of idiots that ANYONE is the "next big thing" these days. Just look at the pop music shit-shingles that are being forced upon us by the music industry these days. The Palin family is to politics what the Jonas Brothers are to music.
