Public Option
Am I crazy to think there is no way in hell that Congress will ever come back to this. We had one shot with the new Administration and a swell of public sentiment, bu stood by and let Bacus screw it up.

1. When the people need something from government the people have to TAKE IT
Let's all give up the idea that change comes from elected officials. It takes a large social movement to raise the tension such that the elites get fearful and concede.

Join the MEDICARE FOR ALL movement. That's what the Public Option was all about. Dividing the Progressive Base of the Democratic party from the dangerous Medicare for All movement (Single Payer).

2. Dems I suppose hope it will evolve, after passage...Will it?
Edited on Wed Feb-24-10 03:38 AM by LaPera
Or is it just to get any bullshit bill passed before 2010 (which is important) to hold congress for the Dems, and scream we got "reform" with big accomplishments...then it goes nowhere.....or does it, will it lead to a public option...which will then lead to single payer or just re-elections for the same....

Cuz without a public option or more, it's truly just bullshit...complete bullshit....preaching & hoping down the road changes will be made, hmm,....I'm not counting on it, are you?

Still, with all sincerity a health care bill must be passed...As much as I abhorred and know it won't be the one we want and need, but at least for now...well...so...I guess...we've just got to keep on fighting!

3. Well, you are correct...Baucus was paid off, hence the stall was on - And here we are -
Edited on Wed Feb-24-10 04:27 AM by GreenTea
No Public Option, now we're getting only seconds - working with the deceitful greedy corporate republicans with their only hope being is for much longer stalls to kill any possible Democratic legislation....

But this is truly major earth shaking legislation and it's time has finally come....It's well over due and desperately needed!
